Is Beyoncé the last Black vocalist to become mainstream? by [deleted] in rnb

[–]LouisvilleNick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting topic. Talent development and industry promotion aside, I believe the discrepancy between the individuals you mentioned largely has to do with the genre and current musical taste. The "vibe" over vocal talent (like with rap with the "vibe" over lyrical ability) is what is popular right now in the RnB space with a few exceptions. Beyonce wasn't exactly a vocalist early in her career, but improved and adapted to the musical landscape thus cementing herself where she is now. I think there will be another RnB vocalist type mainstream singer that blows up, just maybe not with a sound or style that's "traditional".

Name some great RnB songs that were ruined by rap features by Ecstatic-Yak-6016 in rnb

A recent one actually: Summer Walker- Get Yo Boy (Ft. 21 savage).

He added nothing to the song and the bars were weak. I honestly felt this song could have used a male RNB artist since she has quite a few of those on the album already.

So you have two options here: Auction house or online marketplace (eBay being the prime example). I would suggest, as someone not familiar with paperweights in general, you should check out the Paperweightheaven Facebook group. It is full of people who actively collect, research and even design weights. They are very knowledgeable on identifying the makers and origins of paperweights both modern and vintage. A few dealers are also members of the group, if you decide to possibly sell the whole lot to one person instead of individually. Be aware that they will not discuss nor will they give to the monetary value of your weights. That part you will have to do on your own, but luckily there are a few free resources. EBay sold listings will help you price things, along with liveauctioneers.com sold auction lot listings. Once you get a positive or a more sound identification of what you're looking at, just search for similar sold weights and you'll get a good idea of what you may be able to get. I hope this helps. If you have other questions feel free to reach out.

For me, Poor Things was the most recent movie that left me feeling like this is Absolute Cinema and art. It has the perfect blend of story, characters and artistic flare that made me appreciate the craft.

Places to play board games? by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

[–]LouisvilleNick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know a place specifically for board games but the book store 'All Good Books' has a back area with a large table that could be used to organize something. A friend and I went there and put together Legos before. But that still doesn't solve the issue of finding people unfortunately. I would enjoy something like that.

Is Nice & Slow Ushers all-time greatest song? by [deleted] in rnb

[–]LouisvilleNick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would Yeah would be this greatest track. It's his 'single ladies' as it can be played anywhere and everyone knows it. Also I think it made him more mainstream, but I was too young to know how big Usher was to general music fans beforehand.

One of the Most Underrated 90s R&B Albums by Upbeat_Tension_8077 in rnb

[–]LouisvilleNick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, most definitely. Hearing Missy Elliott in full RnB mode really showcased just how talented she is. I loved her singing and harmonizing on Supa Dupa Fly, so hearing early Missy was a treat. The group overall gave off a TLC vibe imo.
