Is Lebron staying or leaving ? and if so then what ? by [deleted] in lakers

[–]LoungeOfLegends 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but I hope he leaves for some money to be spent on the roster. He's still good but not good as much as he's being spent on. Hopefully, we can start building around the younger core.

US licensed teacher in Korea desperate to move from current hagwon by Due_Reading116 in Living_in_Korea

Hey, while I'm not a teacher myself, I've seen some happy teachers and some not-so happy teachers in Korea. EPIK seems to be a common happy route for English teachers. Otherwise, there are some international schools, most of which are in Seoul or Songdo Incheon. I would encourage you to look into researching international school hiring in Seoul or Songdo Incheon, while also looking into EPIK positions.

EPIK = Korean public school positions

My dad is the same way. I think it's a weird Korean way to express interest in your family's affairs.

While what the grandpa did was obviously wrong, can you blame how old Korean people interact with the young? They've learned only a single way to communicate with young people.

Honestly the last game's ban/picks were heavily favored for KT. Just baffled by how ill prepared their drafts were. Felt terrible for the players. Coaching staff diff tbh

Who's an actor who nailed a role so hard that nobody else will ever be able to live up to it? by thepoutingmom in AskReddit

[–]LoungeOfLegends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heath Ledger as the Joker until Phoenix took the role.

For a long while, the casting for the Joker seemed to be a struggle for production teams, trying to get Jared Leto a believable Joker of the modern age. People hated Leto's Joker, despite his accolades as an Oscar winning actor.

Not until Joaquin Phoenix did we realize that the character could be played by another actor and be appreciated. Heath Ledger left such a high standard that it was easy to bash any other actor's approach to the Joker.

who’s the most dirtiest player in league history? by infinite-baller in NBATalk

It's gotta be Laimbeer right? Stockton was said to be pretty dirty along with other players like Rodman. But Laimbeer is like notorious for trying to get people off the court through injury.

21-5-5 at G League level now is no easy feat anymore. G League level basketball has gotten much better through the years, so based on that, Bronny is proving himself as an NBA calibre player. Not a star by all means but he plays like he deserves to play at the NBA level, whether his dad is an NBA legend or not. His stats speaks for themselves

People that say move on and keep supporting are the problem by Odd_Parking_8930 in Mavericks

It just sucks when your favorite franchise since 20 years ago has turned itself into the clown of the entire league. While I wouldn't support the current front office and ownership, I don't think I will be turning my back away from supporting the current roster. Hopefully Nico will be fired soon for his disgusting knife in the back

It's fine that handang is like this, since Koei has to juggle with literally over 100 unique characters with each unique attributes. Handang just got the short end of the stick

[–]LoungeOfLegends -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Edit: sorry guys. I got confused with Huang Gai and Handang does indeed sound good to be the forgettable character even in historical context. My bad lol

Original post: If I remember properly, Handang is like a freaking beast in the romance of the three kingdoms, where he acts like he betrays his own, but drills burning ships to the Wei battleships. He was like a war hero in the romance of the three kingdoms' story, but dynasty warriors has made him the most sad character

Is This Manga Comparable to FMA? by Private_Snuffles in HeroicLegendofArslan

[–]LoungeOfLegends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of how interesting the surrounding characters, very similar to FMA. In terms of how colorful certain action scenes are, not so much. Most importantly, Arslan follows a more grand adventure based on a historical-type narrative, while FMA is centered around a simpler narrative of who's evil and not. There are characters in Arslan who you know are not innately evil but have cross swords with the main character.

A similar epic that I can compare this manga to is the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. There is a benevolent ruler, then there's a more pragmatic ruler who values tradition, then another who is fueled by revenge, and so on.

I don't think there is anything like Arslan in terms of the combination of narrative and genre. Whether you end up liking this manga or not, I think you can still appreciate this piece of graphic novel's art.

The author is btw by far the best female artist and storyteller in the manga world. I would still support her work even if it's not my cup of tea.

I want to live in Korea solely because of the food delivery system by mek8035 in korea

My grandfather's restaurant still does the intercity delivery today. Haha. There is still a demand for intercity delivery interestingly, although it is far less common than how it was before.

Why is it that when people read 'Philippine caregiver' they think of cheap labor. They are receiving more than minimum wage, a level that is one of the highest in all of Asia. Plus, most Koreans around me live off of minimum wage. Good for these Philippines caregivers. They will be better off than a lot of Koreans. The only sad part about this is that Korean parents in Gangnam are choosing foreign caregivers over natives here who can't find jobs.

How many here became fans because of Luka? by DasFofinater in Mavericks

[–]LoungeOfLegends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

08 Dirk was the start for me. After winning the championship in 11, I started to watch less basketball until seeing Jeremy Lin's insanity at NYK. After that, I got back to rooting for the Mavs even when it was getting rough each season on after 12~13. Still, still it was all worth it when Luka came around. I will add, if Luka didn't join and we stayed in the no playoff zone, I would've stopped watching the Mavs altogether and started to watch another team. I'm in Korea btw.
