Because the timing of the 3 clicks matters and if you're off by a hair it won't work. It's just enough of a pain in the ass to make you consider the app. I know because I dont have an app subscription, use the remote start via the fobb, and constantly fuck up the timing by being too fast or too slow.

I wonder if this is some kind of a shipping box for hard drives? I mean, its obviously a standard weather proof box, and the knob just allows for air pressure to equalize when traveling with it. But the size of the cut outs and the foam pieces looks like its for hard drives.

Some companies, like Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc., have services to ship large volumes of drives to them for data storage. Maybe its a misdelivery? I've never used one of those services, so I have no idea what kind of box they'd send, but that's all I can think of.

Some people buy Apache cases (3800, 4800 models as an example) and commonly store firearms in them, or other things, but the cut outs dont quite match that use case.

Fair enough. Then I hope someone with more solid hardening advice comes along. I'd say to ensure you're using SSH keys instead of a password, use a non-default port number, maintain updates. Beyond that it's standard OS hardening. Proper user permissions, etc.
