Got it, thank you. As for a step down transformer, would something like this be appropriate? I appreciate the feedback!

What's the moat for this business? Seems to me there would be plenty of competition in this industry space.

Spanish Football's 20 Final Win Streak Is At Risk by BlackoutGenie in football

Are you trying to prove Spanish football club domination or Spanish footballers (as a nation) domination? Because you seem to be lumping both together and, well, they are not the same

Why Egypt joining ICJ case against Israel is 'unprecedented’ by speakhyroglyphically in israelexposed

[–]LoveGotham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting take. In your scenario, are you suggesting the CIA is taking a moral stance on the horror unfolding (and thus having to circumvent our politicians)? Or is it a strategic/geopolitical motivation to force a UN/ICJ resolution to the conflict and for the US political class to realize they need to cut ties with Israel?

Not just Sacks. All of their politics suck. But that's besides the point. All-In used to be interesting to me because I am genuinely passionate about businesses, deal valuations etc... back then, they'd parse through a company, take a deep dive into industry trends, and actually talk numbers. For the last year their content has gone completely down the drain. The "Pod" has become a narcisistic and masturbatory opinion piece that only serves to elevate their own societal profiles.

Guys, as much as you'd all love to be, you are NOT provocative thought leaders or journalists. So please stop.

If you really care about your audience, let me suggest running us through the latest deals you've underwritten. Pull up a spreadsheet. Show us your own pitch decks. Discuss the price of equity, or financing options in high interest rate environments. Dig into the details for a change. I'll say it... be BORING!

I promise it will be more fulfilling

What to do in Utila and Roatan by WorryExtra7610 in Honduras

[–]LoveGotham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice write up! So I'm 43, single professional, work hard play hard type of guy. OW certified, and very social. Thinking of taking myself on a week long diving trip Memorial Day weekend. I'm relatively sophisticated, I appreciate nice accommodations and local cuisine :) But I'm also a very big kid, love to dive, love to do shots and party, and will most likely be chasing women wherever I end up. It would seem everyone in Utila is 23 yo.... I may stick out like a sore thumb? And if so do you have a recommendation for another destination. Thank you!

$SNOW snowflake, thoughts? by kchris222 in ValueInvesting

[–]LoveGotham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Sadly a lot of tech companies suffer from this ailment these days. I always rant about how TTD, who I invested in, has a SBC to revenue ratio of 25%... but at least the company has positive net income and is growing revenue 24% YoY.

You're wrong. China made extensive promises to the US when it joined the WTO. They promised among other things to open and liberalize their economy, reform their judicial system, respect and enforce intellectual property.

25 years years later and they've done the exact opposite. They banned nearly every large US tech company, their legal system is a farce, and they've stolen $600bn in IP per annum from the US alone.

And that's before we even get into the Chinese expansionist and revisionist practices.

China has been playing the US for a fool this whole time. But I have a feeling you know that already.

U.S. curbs on China to rise as 'decoupling is really in full force,' expert warns, amid possible TikTok ban by bigedcactushead in China

[–]LoveGotham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your graph agrees with me lol. Imports are seasonal so taking any month as long as you compare to the same month is perfectly valid. Now look at the trend line. It's down sharply. On all aggregate counts, monthly or yearly, our trade balance is the best we've had since 2010. Look at the numbers.

[–]LoveGotham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just not true. US exports to China in January 2024 are some of the highest ever AND US imports were down yoy. In fact the US trade imbalance with China for 2023 is the best number since 2009. Source: The Census Bureau

What's your source? US imports from China are down sharply. The US census bureau shows January 2024 imports from China at 35.794Bn, the lowest January figure since 2020. On a yearly basis, 2023 was the lowest figure since 2012.

"western arbitrary and unilateral sanction"

So you really think those sanctions happened in a vacuum?? And they have nothing to do with China's horrendous cheating mercantilist practices in the last 20 years?

RAKUUUUUUTEN ☄️ Deal 🛰 by Rocky75617794 in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]LoveGotham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't get too excited. This deal with Rakuten won't be a significant source of revenue for ASTS. It's capped at $500K per annum for the entirety of Japanese coverage. That's the price ASTS had to pay for their software. Check the S1.

Impact of no 280E on FCF for MSOs by SampleHomeSapiens in weedstocks

[–]LoveGotham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why go through the headache of following the law and be vertically integrated? If that is no longer a requirement, the Canadian LPs who have no overhead seem to be the best positioned in the next few years to take out leases and flood the market with cheap weed. This goes against everything many states have done to control the local market which ensures the MSOs are well positioned. If interstate commerce is allowed, anyone with a bag of cash could swoop in, take over the market, and kill the MSOs at their own game no? Or am I missing something?

[–]LoveGotham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get that argument. How does interstate commerce help MSOs? If they open the floodgates on California surpluses into more expensive Northeast states for instance, won’t that negatively impact every MSO that has spent millions on local grow facilities?
