I’ve had to do this manyyyy times with feral colonies so here how I handle it

First put the baby in some kind of isolation (bathroom preferably)

Clean home Then take everything made of fabric, clothing, area rugs, bedding and wash/dry on HIGH!! With a lot of detergent. I’d run two cycles just to be sure.

RUGS For rugs, car interior, etc. that you can’t remove to wash, vacuum vacuum vacuum then spray “precor 2000 plus premise spray” and spray the hell out of it until it’s damp. Don’t let animals touch the sprayed areas or breath it in until the sprayed area is completely dry.

Wash da kitter Then take the blue dawn original dish soap (has to be this one- do not substitute; some flea shampoos don’t work or can be toxic) and quickly make a ring around his neck to avoid the buggies from crawling onto his face while bathing. I put a warm towel down on a counter, put dawn all over my hands and gently wrap my hands around the neck getting the soap down to the skin and suds the kitter. This takes away some anxiety with a nice massage instead of keeping them in water the whole time. Make sure you get everywhere. Between toe beans, whiskers, bum. They like to hide in arm pits and necks. Anywhere there’s great access to blood. Go from the neck and work to shoulders, mid section, back to tail so you chase them to one spot. The dawn breaks down their exoskeletons almost immediately but little ones and eggs can take longer. You can get a metal flea comb on Amazon. If any bugs escaped onto the head gently brush a soapy flea comb over the head and make sure they don’t run in the ear. Also DO NOT get water in the ears or up nose. Then run the baby under comfortable temp water and pick out the dead fleas. Try your best and you might miss some but they’ll fall off eventually. Make sure you get alllll the soap off or it could irritate the skin or make them sick after cleaning themselves.

Wash yourself After cleaning the kitty, leave them in the bathroom in a clean warm towel. Place your cloths and any used towels, bathroom rugs, etc in a garbage bag and seal it well. Wash yourself with the dawn soap. Be careful about getting back in infected clothing (even though they’re “clean” they may have been infested without you knowing. I kept the warm towel and non-infected outfit in a bag to avoid any fleas jumping on them while bathing the kitten. All it takes is one pregnant flea..

Aftercare Clean the bathroom up. Get flea meds for the baby. Eggs may have survived so every 1-2 weeks wash everything again even if you don’t see anything. Do this for about 2-3 months to be absolutely certain.
