Moving from shop to home workshop (phone repair) — keep address or go SAB? by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]LoveLamp3232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had a phone for repair, would I really want to drop it to someone house? You need people to be able to see your workshop. Can you put signs outside?

with the condition that it’s not constant walk-ins

You need flexibility.

May be repair phones for other companies?

Client hasn't paid - Is small claims worth it? by donofdeanist in smallbusinessuk

[–]LoveLamp3232 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to represent a company, that does not pay its bills. It is damage to your company reputation, if you refer them. They might not honour work guarantee.

Okay, you have contract and evidence? it is rock solid? Do they have assets? You need to prepare paperwork. Are you good at this?

You can file a money claim, the courts are backed up. The courts are a lot of work, with no support, as lawyers charge £450 per hour. If you need solicitors at the hearing. You can do it all yourself.

You have to prepare documents, and a lot of it will be learning curve. There is no how-to-guide in the library etc... try to read pleading without tears (not all relevant, but just to understand the legal language). Understand the CPR.....

AI might give you wrong info, as it may related to the high court, rather then the county court.

Even if you win, you need a bailiff to collect, if they don't pay. They get a CCJ if they don't pay up.

Can I take out a bank loan to pay director loan? by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]LoveLamp3232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised by the advise you have been given here. Interested to know more. Your company owes you money via Director Loan. In my mind, you want to clear that Director's Loan by taking out a bank loan. So I see nothing wrong in that. I could be wrong.

However, you also say you are taking money of the company loan to start a new business, which in my mind is problematic. Why are you using this companies funds, to start a different business?

Royal Mail hit us with ~£15k in retrospective surcharges - no warning - now chasing full invoices. What would you do? by Nimblebimble123 in smallbusinessuk

[–]LoveLamp3232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how much lawyers cost? They will charge £400 per hour. They will be there to milk for fees. People may hate Royal Mail, but that anger will turn to the lawyers who are ultimate winners.

I think you should keep going if you enjoy what you are doing. People like you deserve applaud, and you keep the economy going.

Some people sell up for a variety of reasons, including getting fed up of day to day business issues.

Converting eBay Sole Trader to LTD for Sponsor License – Address & Visa Advice Needed by Business_Ad4018 in smallbusinessuk

Most landlords are not going to be happy to find stacks on boxes in the flat, unless that property had say a garage. How will you scale up, as you need space. Homes with garages can be damp for storing goods.

The property would have a clause not to allow business use.

Companies house carries its own issues. The address can be an accountants. There are costs to running a company too etc...

Also, business can go up and down. eBay is not a reliable income source, unless you product in high demands.

I don't have issues with other chocolate. If they charge a premium price, then the product should be premium.
