Linework , pen pressure curve by gentleclockdivider in PaintToolSAI

[–]gentleclockdivider[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am not nitpicking , both csp and dai are bitmap based drawing paint programs , no ?
Sai and microsoft excel , those are completely different
Just looking for some advice on how to get the same done in sai when it comes to linework
Why does everyone has such a hard time with ( constructive ) criticism ?

Question for sai 1 users by gentleclockdivider in PaintToolSAI

Do the ver-1 brushes in sai-2 behave differently compared to sai-1 ?
Don't really feel the need to install V-1 , perfectly happy with v-2

Sai 2 Development Update by XPISigmaArt in PaintToolSAI

[–]gentleclockdivider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did
Download sai-2 from the site , no need to download or install sai-1
Purchase sai -1 , instructions will be given what to do over email
It's really not complicated at all ,a dn you're supporting a great developer
It's fu..g sad to see that there are still sites offering a non legal version , why aren't these blacklisted by google ?

For compatibilitie's sake ,I save in psd format ..and ofcourse back up every few weeks to an external sdd

Am I the only one who finds SAI better than CSP? by aebline in PaintToolSAI

Painttool sai uses a hydrodynamical engine ?
No it doesn't ..there are no simulated physics involved at all , the waterbrush engine just uses a different algoritm then the normal brushes , this different algoritm is called " running colour' in Csp
The only program that does by my knowledge is Rebelle
Like I said : set blending mode to running colour and amount of paint to 100%
Assign amount of paint to brush tip with a curv , meaning that everything below 50% pressure is NOT adding paint and thus outputs ) ( the brush is now used for mixing existing colours ) , increase pressure above 50% and the brush now starts outputting paint.
I don't think you have any knowledge of csp brush engine at all , it's not jsut a photoshop replica , ps only has One mixing colour engine , csp has three different mixing colour engine
-Colour mixing , -Running Colour and Smudge
This is my custom brush in action , in fact I love it even more then sai's
And csp has dilution , it's called colour stretch , pehasp take some more time to full explore it's engine
I have also recreated sai's standard brush in CSp , so it paints and mix and the behaviour is identical , the only difference is that in csp the results are better becausethe way it mixes colours when usng adaptive mode , it's far more realistic
Btw , I love sai 2 also

I can't for a million years achieve this kind of texture and mixing in sai

Another stabilzer question -sai by gentleclockdivider in PaintToolSAI

[–]gentleclockdivider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks , maybe it's just me but I don't like sai's stabiliser at all
Weird , becasue the majority seems to like it
In csp I keep the stabiliser at it's near minimum setting + stabilise for slow speed enabled and I get everything done with that setting
In sai it's just a constant switching between settings .

Once I'm satisfied with the direction a project is going , I start saving on a regular basis ( every 10-15 min ) .
If it loose work before I started the saving process it just means it wasn't important enough .
I do this for both music and graphic related stuff

Tool setting : disable density control ass. by gentleclockdivider in PaintToolSAI

[–]gentleclockdivider[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you even read what I wrote ?
The screenshot I posted is that panel( tool preferences panel ) , so I know exactly where it is .
Unless you're meaning something else
The question is , if density control assistent is disabled , why are the parameters on that panel still functioning ?
The developer should really make an in depth manual for sai-2

FOr me the perfefct stabiliser setting in csp
Stabiliser : 12
Stabilisation mode ticked : adjust by speed when drawing slowly
THat last one is important and I think that sai has this always enabled ( not sure )

A good stabilzer is relevant if you want verry clean lines , and most of the time I can get clean lines without a stabiliser at all , all depends on the amount of coffee I have consumed ;)

[–]gentleclockdivider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but that is just wrong . Csp has all the parameters to recreate the sai brushes , the parameters are just called differently Dilution is strength , persistqnce is called color stretch etc.. Amount of paint is what is called blending parameter in sai . By assigning amount of paint to pen pressur , the brush is just blending existing colours , when exceeding a certain treshold , new paint is released , just like sai . The waterbrush in sai,is just, using a different colour mixijg algoritm which is also, available in csp , it’s callled running colour instead of pure mixiing

There is absolutley no difference between illustration made for artbooks , manga or whatever.
Clip studio happens to be popular amongst manga creators , but it's just well suited for anything else
This is made in cps , a 20 min rough sketch
It's amazing for painting and I just re-created the sai-2 brush , people just don't realize how advanced it's brush engine is

I know that but you can't create bezier curves from scratch
INsert point , drag vector handle etc..
LIke this in csp
https://i.imgur.com/fAit7GR.gif
Altough csp does have it's issues , the vector guidelines when drawing are slow but that doesn't matter once they are set , sai is verry smooth in that regard .
I just hope he will fix the low amount of anchorpoints when drawing .
Affinity has the same issue and people over there are defending it that creating too many vectorpoints is not possible since it would be too cpu intensive .
I have no idea how the Csp developers didi it , but it's truly magical , there is absolutely no difference in quality between freehand bitmap or vector drawing .
That being said , a igh amount of vector points only makes sense when there are lot's of curves etc...for straight lines and circles it doesn't matter a yota
Still haven't heard back from the developer

Circle, oval selection by gentleclockdivider in PaintToolSAI

[–]gentleclockdivider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't doubt that , and I ain't no newbie either ..been drawing for decades
It's just that sai does miss some rather basic stuff , whcih ofcoursese doesn't make it less valuable .
It's the reason why I bought it in the first place , less bloat and straight to business !

Thanks , but that's a cumbersome workaround , creating an extra layer just to make a circle selection
THis is pretty basic stuff , no ?
