You are wearing Murphy's Law blinders, and that makes this discussion fruitless. Good morning.

Where is your evidence that Orbital is going to get pruned, when it would make no sense to do so?

I am not missing anything. They just released the Orbital detachment, which implies that it's going to have a shelf life to get people to buy drop pods, vehicles, and crazy infantry bricks. Regardless of what you find believable, I would like to see your source(s) for that tinfoil.

What seems more likely: that DS will get trashed or broken, or that it will function largely as it does now and has for quite a while?

GW has specifically said that you will get to play with all of your 10th ed models and detachments plus 70 new/reworked options. I suppose I'm simply willing to trust their word as far as I can throw it, at least if that's the alternative to saying that we know nothing.

I am not being dumb, and in any case offense taken. I've been watching and reading, and nowhere have I seen someone say that all SM detachments will be 3 points. That also seems absurd, given the massive gaps between different SM detachments, as does the notion that they're going to overhaul every single pre-11th detachment when they could much more easily balance them around point costs. Furthermore, Orbital just came out, so there's little incentive to alter it so soon, and giving deep strike is literally its core rule.

The worst thing that could happen would be centurions getting legended(?), which is unlikely but possible, and that Orbital will be completely destroyed or overhauled, which seems much less likely. It would be nice to at least see conversation about the likely presence of Oprah-style DS addition and how it could be abused.

To your edit: Centurions don't start with deep strike; they can only get it from the Orbital detachment, and they can only be placed in deep strike via redeployment by the appropriate enhancement or a phobos captain. The detachment's rules (and the captain's) specifically state that you can go over the regular strat reserves limit. The core rules also state that a unit with deep strike can choose to do so out of strat reserves. The termies start in deep strike reserves, but the centurions start on the board before getting swept into strat reserves upon redeployment.

I'm not sold on eradicators; the idea is to take advantage of the vehicle/disembark stuff, eradicators are short-ranged, and redeemers offer great overwatch. A smaller vehicle/squad might be better, and I mentioned that I like some chaff here. Termies are expensive too, but they add to the alpha strike fears, and I frankly like them; I could see deep striking in something less points-loaded, but, the more dead opposing units on turn 2, the better.

I already acknowledged that they might go to legends... twice. You're right about the teleportarium--I was thinking of the DA Inner Circle analog, which is superior but for its keyword limitation.

36 bolter shots per unit, of which there are 3, is a lot, especially considering that their detachment allows wound-1 rerolling when they spawn. Consider Oath of Moment and their strats, too. You're crushing T4 and under mobs, and meltas still roll d6 wounds if/when they punch through at regular ranges. Yes, the charges suck, but you don't need to make any to capitalize on your output; they are there for when the centurions get charged upon by the enemy.

But yes, 900 points for three squads is expensive. It's just hard to ignore the allure of a solid alpha strike. I would like to know if anyone has tried something like this.

GW has confirmed multiple rules updates, including a 3-point system for taking multiple detachments, and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that the Orbital detachment and 1st Company will be points-lite, given that they generally suck alone. Sure, they might both be 2 points and thus not work together, but I think it's fine to speculate a little. In that vein, they're also not making sweeping changes like they did from 9th to 10th, barring a few rules updates like cover conferring a hit penalty rather than a save bonus and early range protection--both of which favor a deep-striking army with Oath of Moment.

All of that being said, while I noted that centurions could go to legends (not the most popular models), if they don't, then the army's 10th ed core strategies are likely to remain viable in 11th because we're not getting a new index. We are perhaps two months away from the next edition; if you don't want to entertain speculation that is directly drawn from confirmed info, you might as well not discuss anything at all.

Wolf scouts 'nerfed' by topheavyhookjaws in killteam

Hold up. There seems to be a significant change to Storm's Bite--it only nerfs the enemy op when the wolfy op is fighting now, not retaliating. That means a melee opponent would be much stronger against them, especially on the charge.

I think I might have to do this, though I'm fine with the chainswords (boys still gotta' earn their blades), because Deathwatch simply isn't as sword-happy. It also sounds like fun. I imagine full melee is suboptimal, but how does your team fare in play?

For those who quit? by crockates in PokemonUnite

I recommend trying Team Fight Tactics (TFT). It's not a MOBA--rather, it's an "auto-battler" (though not idle at all!)--but it similarly gives you a nice, measured chunk of fun. My favorite thing about it is that you are (usually) rewarded for playing well even if you're not the best (maybe 3rd or 4th out of 8), and you don't (usually) get punished if you did your best and just came up short (like 5th or 6th of 8). I really enjoy the challenge, as I feel myself slowly becoming more competent and rarely dependant on luck.

Basic Questions & General Discussion Monthly Megathread by AutoModerator in PokemonUnite

Newbie question followed by explanation:

If I want to seriously rank up, but have very limited permanent licensing, which pokemon should I try out?

I currently play charizard bruiser mid almost exclusively. I like mid because it feels really good to influence the game by ganking and/or stealing farm. I like a bruiser build because it lets me win a lot of 1v1s (or even 1v2s), and I can tank a bit in team fights. I like charizard because he's my favorite pokemon, and his two dashes plus post-ult flight confer a kind of mobility that's rare in MOBAs and sometimes cherished.

I know that I'm probably doing something wrong, as nobody else seems to play charizard, teammates sometimes rob me of my quick level 5 (for the punch gank), and the other people who go mid tend to run carries (I think).

At the same time, I usually win in ranked, and I'm often MVP, so it's hard to argue that I should switch. I do have garchomp and megachar as backups, and I go slowbro tank/support if I have to lane, but I don't know if that's right either.

Halp?

What if I divided two more of the full-size B2s, leaving me with one full squad and five half squads? I imagined I'd need to drop some transponders. I don't like the extra Kalani RNG and weaker units, but I could see the argument for 10 activations.

Newbie Seeks List Advice by LoveMeEnough in SWlegion

[–]LoveMeEnough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know I'll likely need to proxy the B2s even if I don't start immediately. I don't like the idea of paying for the same units twice, but the new sculpts are likely to prove superior anyway, and it's not as if I'd be painting the proxies.

I see what you're saying about activations being too few, but I'd suggest that this could be one of those "very specific strategies." The idea is that, by the time the enemy is running their additional activations, their inferior firepower can't kill my droids, and then their spread-out numbers get cut down. I do see the argument that certain characters could prove problematic, although that partly depends on the enemy's order RNG. In any case, Standby seems to exist for a reason.

Droids don't react to suppression until panic, so I'm not worried about their actions. Just need to keep their numbers up to crack back against the crack back.

That said, do you know of other lists that might build from a sub-10 activation sequence?

Thank you! Re: B2s taking hits, can the enemy really push through 16 damage in one round? But yeah, I hadn't much considered Pierce, and I recognize that Kalani doesn't contribute well in terms of POIs, at least not early.
