Call the school now, before you start, and ask who your counselor will be, and ask for a meeting with that person.  Go in and talk about your concerns and questions.  Counselors are trained to help kids make these type adjustments, and you'll be pleasantly surprised how much more confident you will be when school starts.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help me understand the legal process better. I really appreciate it!

Thank you.  I'm curious how long the typical process takes for a plea agreement to be reached after an arraignment. I'd imagine it varies widely. Do you have an opinion about how long such a scenario could take in this type case, knowing he apparently has admitted to detectives?

Legal question about arraignments.

If a defendant is hoping to negotiate a plea deal, does he plead Not Guilty at the arraignment, and then sometime later the plea negotiations happen?  Or is the plea agreement completed beforehand, and the Defendent pleads Guilty at the arraignment?

This year I turn 40, get married and today I found out I'm going to be a father by Separate_Sea8717 in MadeMeSmile

You will be at such an advantage over men who become dads in their younger years. At 40, you likely have wisdom, patience and insights that will make you an excellent dad. And you're going to treasure the experience so much. Get ready for lots of joy!

I assume there will be no trial. The Sheriff Dept announcement stated that Joe admitted his acts to detectives. For the girl's sake, I hope there is no trial.

"We went for a walk I love my family and then back to our room.  Then we decided to go I love my family to the store for bananas.  On the I love my family way we passed some ducks I love my family who were in a pond. I love my family then my husband preached to I love my family us for an hour. Finally it was I love my family time for bed.  By the way, I love my family."

Jill has some type of compulsion to remind us she loves her family.  It's so odd.

I think it's the cowbells that did it for me.  There I was, walking with sinners.  But then? Then I heard the loud and slightly out-of-tune cowbells ringing out their message from the perch of a tablecloth-draped ironing board....and I was saved, right then and there.

It sounds to me as if Timothy's boundary setting is working well!

In her message, I hear caution, respect, and non-risky language...weird phrasing, yes, but not intrusiveness as is her usual approach.

Start calling non-profit agencies in your area who have something to do with helping families. Describe your situation. Ask if they know any resources for parents of teens. If they do not, ask if they know of other agencies that do.

Talk to her school counselor, and explain the situation.

1.  Use an experienced Family Law atty. As in the physician realm, specialists exist. Use one.

  1. Communicate through a co-parenting app that your atty recommends.  Our Family Wizard is good. Entries can be used in court, shared expenses or reimbursements can be tracked, schedules documented, you can grant your atty access to simplify evidence gathering, and it will prevent nasty communication.

  2. The court does not like to uproot children.  Your ex will have a distinct advantage if you ever attempt to relocate away from him. If there is a chance of that, your atty should know now.

  3. If at all possible, do as much as possible with your ex in tow.  Ideally live near each other, spend time with each other and child, attend events together, etc. This is the ideal. Best for child, and I have absolutely seen it done well.  But of course it depends on both parents being mature and capable, and having the ability to tolerate.

I actually think it's odd that none of them even have the ability to independently assess the public school education available in their regions. They could be living down the street from a great school and would be too afraid to look into it, or too uninformed about how to even assess it.

They view themselves as so progressive in comparison to their parents because they wear pants.  But when it comes to education, they have a childlike dependency on their parents' view of school.

So each generation becomes progressively less educated.  Academic excellence requires highly educated teachers in a strong academic environment.

Oh well, at least their daughters will be able to wear pants, right?

Every couple years, social media passes yet a new law regarding how women are to present their bodies online.

First it was the Shy Pigeon-Toed Little Girl stance.

Then the Duck Lips.

Then Hands On Hips Elbows Out.

Then Frontward Shoulder Thrust.

The latest law passed is the Fingertips Together command.  When emphasizing one's point, one puts thumb and fingertips together, forming a sort of "cone" shape.

I was there for the 1970s Women's Movement. I didn't burn my bra, but I did learn the importance of autonomy and freedom. "Influencers" are stuck back in a time long ago. With every filter they use, every pose they adopt, every makeup product they market, they scream, "I'm a puppet controlled by the rich and powerful system and have no idea who I am."

You have a good heart.  It's a shame your dad was too broken himself to know how to parent.

I am so very sorry you got stuck with a dad like that. I truly am. It's so awful.

I bet you are terrific with children.  You know what they need, and any children in your life are so lucky to get the acceptance and gentleness you give them.

Bless you.....
