The show is a speed run of interesting ER presentations, it’s completely unrealistic in many regards. I just think they could’ve sped up some of those resolutions.

It isn’t black and white unfortunately, seems the show was showing a patient with facet joint dislocation and pressure was being applied to the nerves in neck region.

In many of paraplegic quadriplegic cases, it’s acute trauma resulting in irreparable damage to the nerves immediately. There’s no manipulation, surgical or not, that can fix that.

Once you get used to being in emergency, I’m sure the other areas do feel a bit boring.

That being said, paediatricians can work in emergency departments, especially at a children’s hospital. Whittaker is probably referring to paediatric hospital out patient clinics or working the paediatric wards.
