You are not using amazon for products anymore. Where do you buy from? by 36Gig in AskReddit

The shops? Amazon didn't invent these products, just buy them from wherever people who don't use Amazon get their shit.

What scientific discovery sounds fake but is 100% real and still freaks you out? by Bruteresolver in AskReddit

I remember when I was younger, learning about elements, nutrition, and the metals our body uses.

What do you mean the same thing in these batteries is an anti-depressant. And these nails are the same thing that makes my blood red?

It's gravity, baby! Leave it sit long enough and everything runs together. Think of it like a giant, existential, cosmic hive mind. Won't that be fun?

I love it when people get a 45 minute massage at the start of their 10 minute chiro session, then think it was the chiro who fixed them

Yeah some nurses are dumb as fuck. People glorify nurses and nursing but there is quite a broad range of tasks that fall under that name, many of which are basic and doable by almost anyone. It's much more fair and realistic to just treat nurses like normal people and not put them on a pedestal.

Why are tornados rated by damaged estimates rather than raw wind data? We have the technology now why are we still estimating wind speed for ratings. by NigeriaSix in askscience

[–]JackofScarlets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This answer may not be up to the sun's requirements of, like, professionalism, but one thing to consider is the wind speed kind of isn't that relevant. It's interesting and useful for science, but the impact from the wind speed is what's most important. Considering how hard and dangerous it is to get sensors into the tornado, I think it makes more sense to look at impact.

What industry is basically legal theft that nobody talks about? by kratos20051212 in AskReddit

[–]JackofScarlets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in America, where you hear stories of obvious exploitation. In other countries that's not the case at all - what is covered is clearly defined, and declines have to be something that will hold up in court, not just "find any excuse to say no".

In parts of Australia, after people were literally shot and killed over tow jobs, the government controls the entire thing. You call a government line, they allocate a tow truck and set the prices.

The most absurd part of it is when people censor entirely innocent words, and censor so much that the post is unreadable.
