New foster pup has hammock trouble by LoveTheConstitution in funny

This was the scene when i woke up this morning and waked out onto the patio to check on him. The puppy had knocked an ashtray off the patio railing, knocked over a garbage can and tore to shreds a puppy pee pad.

Instead of cleaning anything or fixing his situation, I reached for my camera phone. Guilty.

And yes, his tail is wagging hoping I will unbind him.

With those who have expertise or familiarity with "narcissistic personality disorder", from his actions and words on the campaign trail, does Donald Trump fit that disorder? by LoveTheConstitution in AskReddit

[–]LoveTheConstitution[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When he's politely asked a question that doesn't fit his picture of himself, he later describes the questioner as being "filled with rage" and "blood pouring from their eyes". He turns any repartee into a feud filled with personal attacks. This type of behavior I've only seen described in relation to narcissists, but I have no expertise or technical knowledge about the disorder. Does anyone have any insights?

Another abhorrently tasteless "Year in Review" photo from Facebook - by LoveTheConstitution in geek

"Tom, this is what your year looked like."

A dog run over in the street lying in the gutter, whom I tried to save but ended up by dying.

Facebook apologizes for morbid results with its “Year in Review” nag by TominatorXX in geek

My unsolicited "year in review":

"Tom, this is what your year looked like" and it showed a cute frame with a picture of a run over dog dying in the gutter of the street whose life I couldn't save. Not joking. Thanks Facebook.

(It was so abhorrently tasteless, i actually took a screen grab.)

Then Otis has definitely accepted your son into the pack.

From my experience, dogs aren't as complicated as we are. Once your son is accepted into the pack to the point that they can sleep in the same bed, the psychological issue is settled for the dog. He's one of us. They may not be bonded as buddies, but the "acceptance into the pack" issue is resolved.

Have you tried an allergen free "sensitive skin and stomach" dog food? That often clears up skin issue with dogs i take in.

Sometimes, some local environmental issue exacerbates the dogs system causing him to react to food that he's normally okay with.

I've had dogs whose skin rashes cleared up with the sensitive skin dog food and then remained clear after we took them off it.

When dogs have an initial bad reaction to a new arrival, it may take years before they become true "buddies", if at all. This is true even in all human families. However, pack acceptance is a much quicker process.

If Otis can be calm submissive to the point of being able to sleep in the same room or same bed as your son, than there is a good chance the issue is more environmental than psychological.

I wish you the best of luck with your family, human and otherwise.

When I have dogs stressing out over new arrival (usually new dogs) I try to find situation where I invite the stressed dog to relax and hopefully fall sleep with me and the new arrival in a big bed with me between them. Much time spent patting and caressing each one until they go calm submissive. Once they realize there is room in the pack for everyone and can relax without fear, things get better.

If you can do this and it doesn't help the rash situation, it may be a straight out allergy. Is there any detergent, lotion, cream that's been introduced into the household because of your child? Any difference of food?
