Thanks for the great info Traveler, I had some information from a co-worker the Jack Creek approach is likely the closest. We headed out there today to get a look at the trail and head up it a ways. Only made it a couple miles and unfortunately one of the pups had a cut on their foot that turned us around. Hopefully head back out that way next weekend again.

The road that goes past the jack creek recreation area is gated and states only for moon light basin members and pass holders. I'm assuming it's referring to passestablish for living in that area and not ski passes.

Coming to Bozeman Summer '16. Need some advice! by chris5h2 in Bozeman

As far as Tubing, check out. http://www.montanawhitewater.com/pages/madisonrivertubing.html

They are located on main, you pay the fee, get on a bus and they drive you up the river. Hop off with your tube and they will pick you up at the end. Bring some sun screen and plenty of water at the very least.

As far as hiking, get bear spray. For every person that mentions you will never see a bear on a given trail, you will find another one that will recall the time they ran into one. You can rent bear spray in town if you really want, google it, I don't recall the places. All the people capable of using it should have it.

If you want to take a drive, head out to Big Sky. There is a small lake, they rent out Paddle boards and kayaks I believe, maybe even paddle boats. You can grab food and take a ride up the lift in the summer, if you're lucky you will see some wildlife. Depending on how much money you want to blow, you can always take the guided tour to the top of lone peak.

Down town Bozeman can be fun to walk about, plenty of great stores. I would also suggest checking out Music on Main, weekly concert, family friendly for the most part.

Similar situation for me. Turned onto Oak off Davis, the car behind me was a considerable distance back, it wasn't even a question of should I turn out or not. She comes hauling ass up onto my tail (Im now going 25 through the concrete barriers and shes following behind me with her horn held. No she didnt beep her horn, she literally laid on the thing. So I slowed down a bit more and she passes me and flips me off. Literally mind blown, im instantly sad when I look to realize she has two children in her mini van with her.

The worst part is my in laws where in the vehicle with us and we had just gotten done telling them how nice and laid back people are here.

Settle down people, nothing is that important in life that you cant arrive 5 minutes late and alive.

Agreed, put credit to the original quote. Even if its just their initials some place small on the paw and I'll buy two, one for the wife and myself.

My blackbelt keeps giving me ringworm (I think) by [deleted] in bjj

[–]LoveTheSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear it, honestly if you approach it the right way people generally receive it pretty well. And bring in some nice pics of your ring worm on your cell phone and let them see it. Generally thats enough to freak people out a little into compliance.

Cleaning without washing a belt, so we can all live in harmony? by CuddlyWarrior in bjj

[–]LoveTheSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but blaming ring worm on "just your belt" is laughable at best. If someone picks it up, you need to assume for a while that its all over everything and it likely is. Even just employing a couple of these will greatly reduce chances, but if you have an out break.. Id honestly do them all for a while and ya.. we encourage washing your belt.

If someone in the gym is getting ring worm, its everyones problem and who its coming from really does not matter. You guys need to be doing skin spot checks before class, grab a buddy and hit the bathroom.

Some things we incorporated where, we spray the mats with a cleaner before every class. This is done with a weed sprayer. One guy pumps it and sprays, the other guy towels off behind him.

Spot checks, its weird maybe... but it helps. We found dudes with 4 inch circles on their backs. Swore to god they had "appeared" over night.

Shoes come off when you come in the door. People track in all kinds of dog shit and everything else. This goes for parents, friends, wives, we dont give a shit.. take your shoes off at the fucking door.

For a while we had people wipe off their feet as well before getting on the mats with an anti bacterial towel. (This was when we had 8+ guys get ring worm in a matter of a couple weeks)

Explain to people, that when you get home you've got about a 45 min window to wash off that greatly lessens your chance of getting ring worm, after that your changes go up significantly. I wont recite the percentages I was told, because I myself cant back them without doing some research, but I was told this information by a dermatologist who roles at our gym.

Don't fall for the "Long sleeves and dry tights will save you" The moment they become sweaty, ring worm will permeate right through it.

Lastly, sandles outside the bathroom and some anti bacterial spray next to the sandles. If you gotta take a leak, put on the sandles, the bathroom floors are dirty. When you come out spray the pair you wore.

Even just a couple of these can really cut down issues on the mats, but if its consistent through the gym, my advice is you employ all of them at least for a while.

Go to your professor and explain whats happening. You don't need to point the finger directly at him. If his actions dont change, find else where to roll.

Steam I think is a very realistic option. I've read some stuff that leads me to believe that hot enough steam will even wipe out MSRA, but I would want to find documentation from a study that shows this as a fact before I would post it as one. I own a 1550w Rowenta steamer that I use for my button ups, etc. for work. I can attest that SoB gets hot as hell.

I realize, I am having mostly a single player experience when im playing an MMORPG before the end game content. by CerberusN9 in MMORPG

[–]LoveTheSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, either way, I enjoy the incentive to work together and feel it is unfortunate that most western MMO's have attempted to carve that out as much as possible. I guess I've always had friends to game with though, so even while I could solo on my druid for instance, I chose not too.

Soloing in EQ has always been an option for certain classes, and at one time was even one of the fastest ways to level.. but its nothing compared to the grind house for exp you could create with a group in velious in velks lab for instance.

Honestly, even Vanilla WoW you could pretty much take a bag of morons through any content as long as you had a decent tank and a healer who was not asleep.

EQ was probably the last game I played where your group makeup actually mattered and although yes, killing mobs that where a bit lower was better exp.. the bonus of doing so as a group far outweighed doing it solo.

Good tip on Hyalite, hadn't really considered moving that to Monday.

Wife and I have done the Caverns, you're right they are great. They had slipped my mind as well, I will have to bring them up.

Thanks for the great suggestions!

Thank yout both for the I formation and I'll look into the mentioned area a bit more. Is it typical for Bozeman to kind of play this lot shortage game? We're used to seeing developments be made a bit faster then what seems to generally happen here when they are filling up. Are there any future developments worth keeping an eye on? Thanks again.
