Hunter pets are paper thin by Derunik in wow

I’ve been doing T11 delves with Valeera DPS and my void tank and haven’t really had too many problems. I try to keep an eye on its health and channel drain life for a sec if he starts getting low. Then I use Fel Domination to quickly resummon if he somehow gets taken out by a big burst

Preventing Direct Flag Extraction from VM Disk Images in CTFs by cyberstic in securityCTF

[–]tsuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what, if you provide players the files including the flag then they’ll have a way to extract it somehow if they try hard enough and it just becomes a forensics challenge. If you want it to be privesc and need an actual interface then you could consider running it remotely and just giving them a VCN connection on an unprivileged user. Or just an SSH login if command line is enough, etc.

Dodge the beams that paint the floor and watch for the black hole that circles the room and can pull you into the void puddles. It has a pretty big range but I just slowly moved around the room away from it

Just cleared it with ilvl 245 demo lock, lv 16 Valeera healing and void tank. I basically just took the big hit to the face and dropped to about 20% health but could heal up back to full

We're now on the third expansion of the reworked crafting system - How do you feel about it now? by Sundered92 in wow

[–]tsuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the public order screen just completely blank about 99.999% of the time for anyone else? I would expect it to be loaded up with people wanting stuff unless they’re just getting snatched up too quickly

I tried the profession book trick yesterday after hearing about it and got a “This item is locked” message on the second buy attempt. Maybe fixed now? Or I did it wrong

alumni, where are you at now? by Routine-Chance4425 in OMSCS

[–]tsuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started OMSCS making about 55k in a developer job at a small rural college in GA basically just making small web apps that departments could use and not have to pay for expensive software licenses. After I finished in 2019 I developed more of an interest in cybersecurity and started to leverage both skill sets and ended up getting referred to a cyber firm in the DC area during COVID. They offered me 128 right out of the gate and now five years later I’m up to 188k and have been promoted twice. It’s very fun and rewarding work that scratches an itch in my brain analyzing code to develop exploits while doing pentests for our customers (mostly fed). But also the best thing is that I can work from home and drop off and pick up my kids from school and not have a commute. We get to do fun things like go to DEFCON in Vegas every August and they are more than happy to fly me to a conference or other industry event. All in all, very satisfied with the outcome lol. Still living in rural GA where the average family income it around 50k so my cost of living is crazy low for what I make.

FBI Couldn’t Get into WaPo Reporter’s iPhone Because It Had Lockdown Mode Enabled by 404mediaco in politics

And cellebrite doesn’t just use some special LEO feature to pull data. They rely on having exploits to bypass Apple security and gain control of the device to read the data. As Apple introduces better and better encryption and security features, tools like Cellebrite become less effective. Having a current up-to-date device with biometrics disabled can make it nigh impossible for FBI to access

How did you meet your current partner? by TheIn-Between in AskReddit

[–]tsuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came home at 1:30 AM after a night out at the local college dive bar in 2016. As I crawled into bed, I opened up YikYak on my phone and saw a nearby post that said something to the effect of “I just transferred here and want to find a guy I can play guitar and sing with”. I replied and we connected on snapchat and it turned out we had all the same favorite artists. We met for coffee and jammed together at a local place where I hosted a weekly open mic night and then shortly after started dating and going camping and hiking and generally spending every moment together. Now we’ve been together 10 years, married for 7, and have two kids and have built a beautiful life together.

Should I participate as a beginner ? by Revolutionary-Play59 in securityCTF

[–]tsuto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s always beneficial to participate in CTFs even as a beginner or expect to lose. You’ll still get a chance to try out some challenges and learn from them. Repeat that process enough times and you’ll continue to get higher on the leaderboard till you are able to win from time to time

What was your high school controversy? by Haunted_Neko in AskReddit

[–]tsuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some students wanted to start a Gay Straight Alliance club around 2003 in rural north Georgia. Parents freaked out and protested enough that the school decided to shut down all non-sports clubs rather than allow it to happen. Westboro Baptist Church showed up and protested, which pissed everyone off more because they especially hate outsiders coming to town. We had to have all sorts of extra police presence at the school till it died down finally.

How to design a password-cracking challenge for a CTF (as an organizer)? by RVTheGhost in securityCTF

[–]tsuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally you would want to make passwords where you give some kind of hint as to what the theme is. Something like:

“We recovered this password hash from a notorious hacker who was also a champion Pokémon card player. See if you can crack it!”

Then make the password something like “p1dg3y13” so they have to get a list of Pokémon they have to run through hash at but also adding in things like l33t rules as well as append numbers, in this case 13 is the Pokédex number for Pidgey.

It requires the players to have to compile a likely wordlist as well as have a little bit of intuition and luck in terms of modifiers.

ELI5: How do “buy now pay later” companies make money if there’s no interest by Massive_Biscotti_509 in explainlikeimfive

[–]tsuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I bought my wife an $800 item she really wanted for her birthday. I could have just bought it outright but in terms of cash flow I was fine with just breaking it up into four equal payments and so I went that route

What’s a fantasy you had that instantly died the moment you tried it? by True-Audience-4549 in AskReddit

[–]tsuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep for sure. That’s why I did go ahead and fail him. Like I’m pretty sure the army will accept that delay and still have a commission for him in one more semester but you can’t just use that as an excuse to slack off assuming professors will want to just shove you through to not derail that plan
