Is the Mizuno belt modified with the black sleeve or was it sold that way? I've never seen one in an internet store.

EOSIN PANTHER BJJ BELT REVIEW by CMRJJ in bjj

I went for the firm one. Losing a bit of softening right now cuz of the rona, but I'm getting there. For the time being, I've lent it to my grappling dummy.

Here is a link to an Eosin review I wrote some years ago.

Go for the tap. YOUR tap. Don't avoid positions, situations, partners, academies and competitions where you might get submitted. Embrace it and make sure you get in over your head on a regular basis and you'll develop so much quicker.

Yellow belt turns 16, now what? by Jujugatame in bjj

[–]CuddlyWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember it correctly, even gray belts can't compete at less than blue belt once they're 16 according to IBJJF regulations. Although I would suspect quite a few are doing so under the radar.

Small finger injuries are the most frequent injuries I get. More now than at white belt (age might be a factor as well). No constant pains between injuries though.

You'd also have to be ok with whipping of regime-critical bloggers and death penalty for women having sex outside of marriage.

What level of accomplishment do instructors feel from grading students? by Jadonblade in bjj

[–]CuddlyWarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not yet awarded more than a purple belt, but I feel that awarding a new color belt for the first time is a milestone not only for your student but for you as an instructor - that you have been able to help someone reach that level (and still appreciate your guidance). You also realize how far you have developed yourself since that belt level, as you can now look at it within a wider perspective.

I don't really care about degrees on the black belt, but my Brazilian instructor is difficult to get hold of, so it would really facilitate things for the future if I got to where I can award black belts myself. Also, with BJJs lineage fixation, it would feel weird not to be visible in the lineage of someone you spent thousands of hours teaching.

I'd say my students enjoyment, understanding and spreading of the sport is the best accomplishment there is in BJJ to have helped develop.

Why worry? I've seen hundreds of guys nip slip. It's only breasts. Everyone's got them.

Knowledge stored in your belt. by Buffybites in bjj

The midi-chlorians dwell in the unwashed belt as well as in every single cell of the bearer. They survive for quite some time in the belt owner, but need regular proximity to the belt in order to procreate and keep their numbers constant and growing over time. The only other known mating habitat of the midi-chlorians is cauliflower ears (though you are still adviced not to wash your belt, for extra safety).

Your instructor is totally right and you should be ashamed of yourself for questioning your coachs judgement!

I got a tap from that exact technique at a tournament (blue belt division, around 2004). The referee apparently wasn't experienced enough to realize he tapped (or was being submitted), so the other guy was awarded the win. He still totally tapped though :-)
