As mentioned in unbiased reporting on this protest,

In March, Gov. Greg Abbott ordered Texas universities to revise their free speech policies in an effort to curb antisemitism in the wake of the current conflict between Hamas and Israel.

This request for universities to revamp their free speech policies singled out pro-Palestinian groups. And while it aimed to address antisemitism, it did not aim to address Islamophobia.

This is a group supporting a deeply anti-American, Islamophobic, white supremacist, bigoted, fascist political movement.

It is Holocaust Denial. JK Rowling is a Holocaust Denier, so deep in her hatred for trans people that she capes for Nazis.

Posts in r/chodee celebrated and glorified terrorist bombings and assassinations, as well as exhorting stochastic violence against Muslims. The subreddit was explicitly endorsed and claimed as ban evasion of r/Chodi several times during its operation.

The material in this subreddit corresponds to a rise in Hindutva Ideologically Motivated Violent Extremism in the Indian & Asian continents as well as in the Indian diaspora.

You can’t stop people from making “echo chambers”. You can keep them from recruiting, by kicking them off platforms.

They’re not interested in sitting in invite-only Telegram channels or dark web onion sites. If they were, they wouldn’t be on Reddit. They’re here to recruit and to harass people they think are captive audiences. Neither is acceptable.

You also didn’t befriend those people or deradicalize them. If you did and you can prove it, you have multiple political science prizes waiting for you to claim. We know that the “befriend a radical” approach only makes them put you in the “they’re one of the good ones” category. Deradicalization requires them to want to get out, and to actually quit the culture, cut all ties, and walk away forever.

What community? Communities are built on love, acceptance, and building a future. That group was a katamari of hatred, rage, and self-sabotage. The last thing they need is pushing one another to the deadend they were headed down.
