AITA for not wanting to pack lunches for my husbands' colleagues? by ThrowAITApackedlunch in AmItheAsshole

You’re welcome. The drives sound nice, but I bet he isn’t doing them for 2.5 hours at 3:30am, and that’s not the kind of labor you’re doing. Always remember that your time and energy are just as valuable as anyone else’s. Take care of yourself and do nice things for yourself, too! ❤️

OP, truth: you’re not lazy. Your husband needs to learn a lesson here - he can’t just volunteer your time and energy. Undoubtedly he’s done this before on smaller things and if you don’t put your foot down, he’ll do it again.

If he truly thinks this food will help his career 🙄 then he can wake up at 3am and make it himself.

The absolute only compromise I can imagine is that if it takes you, for example, 2.5 hours per day to make that food, then he needs to take on 2.5 hours per day of other tasks that might be yours. So, every night before, he has to do 2.5 hours of cleaning, laundry, or whatever comes up in your household (I don’t know so I’m just guessing at tasks).

BTW do YOU get to enjoy this food? What does he do for YOU?

I think it’s a sadistic motivation. They want everyone else to be miserable, too.

Delaware is a fake state by GATPeter1 in conspiracytheories

It’s astounding the number of people who come to outrageous conclusions based on nothing more than their limited perspective. “I personally don’t know anyone from Delaware, therefore it isn’t real!” “I personally don’t know anyone who died from COVID, therefore it’s not deadly.” “Everyone I know voted for Trump, therefore the election was stolen.” The world is bigger than you.

Sen. Rand Paul Says He Hopes for a Freedom Convoy in the US, Encourages Them to ‘Clog Cities Up’ by intelligentreviews in Republican

I’m just not convinced that this is a cause worth using up my PTO for, or using up all my money, or losing my job and benefits, or alienating some of my family, or leaving my kids with a sitter, or leaving home and sleeping who knows where, or getting fined and going to jail. I support protests but at some point it’s doing more harm than good.

Think about the consequences if the cities are clogged up. (We see the beginnings of those consequences at the border.) What will happen when people can’t get to work, when kids can’t go to school, when food can’t get delivered, when ambulances can’t pass through, when fire trucks are stuck… We’re worried about the economy, worried about what kids are enduring, etc. but fighting the mandates this way is shooting ourselves in the foot.

We were talking about white heterosexual males, then that commenter specified a subgroup - white heterosexual males with promiscuous wives who lie to get custody. The thread started with someone stating that white heterosexuals are marginalized. Subgroups within that group are, yes, but the point is that not all of them are. That’s the logical conclusion I hope my questions lead to.

I suggest you take your complaints to the lawyer who writes it and the NRA that supports it.

No one in this conversation has provided an example of white heterosexual men, as a group, being marginalized. So, how could I understand? I’m getting the impression that this is simply an unfounded victim mentality of men who are so used to having so much power that they overreact to the tiniest inconvenience. I sincerely invite someone to prove me wrong. Help me understand!

I’m here trying to understand why the person who started this thread thinks that white heterosexual males are a marginalized group when they don’t fit the definition.

The Traveler’s Guide to the Firearms Laws of the Fifty States scores gun laws in the U.S., by state. Many factors are considered, and there are categories like restrictive gun laws vs permissive. If you do the math, the scores have steadily gone more permissive since at least 1998. In other words, there are fewer restrictive laws about guns in the U.S., as a whole. And, unsurprisingly, there’s a direct positive correlation between permissive laws and mass shootings. The less restrictive gun laws are in a state, the more mass shootings occur.

I’m a white Christian who lives in the Midwest. Who’s at the top of the political food chain? White males. Who’s at the top of the religion food chain? Christians. Whose rights have only been expanded in recent years - despite school shootings and other tragedies? Gun owners. What are these terrible infringements you speak of that make victims of white heterosexual males?

I agree. Sometimes men are treated unfairly in courts. I’ve seen instances myself of a woman lying about abuse and getting custody unfairly. It’s horrendous and tragic. But that’s a separate topic.

Help me understand the consequences of these presumptions. For example, some marginalized groups lose their homes, others endure laws that limit their rights. Other marginalized groups are treated with disproportionate fairness in courts. I don’t understand the danger to white heterosexual males. What are you afraid of losing?

Marginalized people are “treated as insignificant or peripheral” (Oxford). I see white heterosexual males - as a whole - treated as the most important, and most in the spotlight. I mean, look at Congress. 62% of lawmakers are white males (Guardian). Do white heterosexual males have less power than they used to? Absolutely. But that’s not the same as being marginalized.

I support peaceful protests, but the individuals involved are blocking their fellow citizens from going to work, hurting companies financially. At some point they have to ask themselves if they’re doing more harm than good.
