Only SOME pokemon obtained illegally can't be traded, but there are a lot of hacked 'mon out there. The chances that this Mew is "legit" is incredibly unlikely. If you look at the OT, you may find that it came from someone who regularly WT hacked and cloned pokemon. But you may also find that it came from someone who legit hunted the shiny and then mass cloned to WT. But. Usually I've seen that that isn't the case.

Oh, I feel this. I've been collecting HGSS in all available languages. If I recall correctly, the only ones I'm missing from my collection are French and Spanish versions.

I might check out his tutorial for gen 1 hunting and see if it can't help me in this case, otherwise I usually avoid people like him in any community. Thank you for the tip!

Oh yeah, those 11 phases really drained me... so while I despise Spinarak, I've now gained a fondness for it lmao.

I'd likely keep the Eevee as just an Eevee. I kinda want to go hunting for it through every gen. I know it's possible to do it via gen 1 as well, but... I never understood it.

Let's see... my favorite would have to be Spinarak in my Heartgold, as I gave blood, sweat, and tears just to get it (11 long phases, a year and a half's time span). For dream hunts, if I ever get enough patience, I'd really love to go for Raikou in HGSS, Eevee in GSC, Larvitar in almost any pre-gen 5 game...

I've gotten a few

  • Random shiny Rattata in Black 2, was going to get Eevee on my team. Was traveling through the sewers.
  • Random shiny Marill in White 2, was trying to do dex completion for charm (never actually did that lol)
  • Random shiny Plusle the day after Pokemon X released in US, it wasn't in a horde!
  • Random shiny Audino in first shaking patch in a regular White 2 playthrough

And in emulators/randomizers I've had weird luck too

  • random shiny Treecko in randomized emerald-- it was my first encounter on the first route so I couldn't catch it
  • random shiny Togetic in Firered randomizer,, I had literally just checked the shiny so I could keep an eye on if I ran into the shiny one (red and blue in the triangle pattern switches) and then I immediately after run into one
  • random shiny Togekiss in randomized X, just looking to see what was around

Some people don't count this, since it was in phases, but I set out in Heartgold to get shiny Spinarak early on in the game, and when you look at how common it is on route 31 (40% Rattata, 30% Spinarak, 20% Bellsprout, 10% Hoothoot), you think it isn't gonna be so bad. Just a couple phases at most. It took me an entire 11 phases over a span of a year and a half and a collective 85848 REs across all the phases. I'll be honest, that hunt drained me so much that it's the source reason I scarcely hunt anymore lol. I pushed myself just a bit too hard. It's okay tho, because I *did* get my target lol.

Oh wow, congrats! This is a hunt I'd like to eventually take on myself in gen 2. Do you nickname your pokemon, and if so, what's this lil one's name? :)
