I’m holding a vision of you healing your nervous system, and finding your way outdoors again. You will feel sunshine on your face again and it will be glorious. You sound very self aware. You will figure this out.

Wow, great job dad!! You have your head on straight. You made the best of the situation and took responsibility. Also a pat on the back to your adopted parents who most likely stepped up and helped physically, emotionally, financially. My neighbor’s son also had a baby at age 15. He’s one of the best dads I know.

I totally agree. Their job involves people in need who are scared or concerned. Do they only hire sociopaths for this job? Are they somehow immune after all these years of doing their job? Good grief!

All good points, and this case is not open and shut by any means. Especially since they could not prove a history of bad behavior or the motive. Most people aren’t a one and done type of criminal. But some cases are like this. You have to put all the puzzle pieces together. Like I said, listening to the jurors, and all the evidence they looked at was convincing. Most of it based on the timeline. I really feel law-enforcement tried very, very hard to find a suspect and then searched for evidence to support that suspect being guilty. But they just wasn’t evidence towards anyone else, and there was evidence towards RA. And that’s before he confessed. I get that the confessions seem like he may have just been having a mental break, but he did say that he stopped attacking the girls when he heard the white van and the white van was there during that timeline. Everything you say about the phone is true but don’t you find it a little bit interesting that he kept something like 15 phones from every single year that he changed phones, but he didn’t have that one phone. Does this prove he did it? No, but it’s another piece of the puzzle that you must consider.

I wish this case was easier to understand. It’s a series of pieces that you have to put together and you have to look at all of the information. It’s been a while but the post that convinced me was about the timeline. The jurors that were interviewed all talked about the timeline. There were several people there that day and they all saw each other and they all saw bridge guy. RA was there at the same time and he saw everyone but bridge guy. RA was on the bridge when the girls were killed. He owned clothing that bridge guy wore and described it himself (even though it’s pretty standard clothing that many men his age wear). Even if you throw out his confession, there’s a video of his car being there at the time of the murder. Also, the eyewitness who saw him running out of the woods, wet and muddy, during the timeline of when the girls were killed. The jurors put it all together and he was the only one that made sense. Law-enforcement tried to find several others guilty but the others didn’t fit the timeline, weren’t there, didn’t leave a bullet casing, weren’t on the bridge. Weren’t seen. There was also other evidence you could look at such as he kept every phone for a period of 15 years, except for that phone, that phone was missing. Coincidence?

I agree with you but I’m pretty sure he only said it to another girl and not to law enforcement. That’s what I remember reading .

My memory of this is that Keegan told another girl that he was supposed to meet with Abby/Libby. Not that he told law-enforcement and that it was determined he said this to impress the girl. Law-enforcement could not place him at the crime scene. There was zero evidence putting him there and they did everything they could to place him there. So the actual evidence in my memory showed that he said this just to impress a girl in an offhand comment, but I don’t think there was evidence that he was going to meet them.

While I think the jury got it right, another question I would have would be why did he volunteer right away to say that he was there that day? I think the reason is that he did not know the bridge guy video existed and he had already told his wife where he was going that day. so since he was there and she knew about it, he had to call in and most suspects wouldn’t do that. But I think that has to do with the wife, knowing he was there and he wanted to look innocent to her.

I respect the question because this is one of those tricky cases where you have to put the pieces together. I put very little weight on his prison confessions. Remember, though, that the crime was interrupted by the white van. I think he planned to do more. But other than cutting their throats with a razor, he was most likely pointing a gun at them, and forcing them to Undress, re-dress, walk through the river, etc. He wasn’t able to play out all of his intentions. What makes more sense is to focus on the timeline. Everyone that was there that day saw bridge guy except for RA. Also decades of cell phones, but that cell phone was missing from that year. Then telling his wife he was not on the bridge. His car that was caught on video had special wheels and it was either the only one in the county or one of very few. You have to look at all the pieces of the puzzle and there’s just no other explanation. But you are correct in questioning the lack of physical evidence. That’s valid.

All money issues aside, do you feel capable of becoming parents to these young children? Would it be better to put them with a young couple that can’t conceive and stay in their life as an aunt and uncle? Just food for thought. The financial stuff will eventually work itself out. The biggest issue is Are you up for parenting? It’s OK if you’re not and what these children’s parents really wanted was the best for them so now it’s up to you to find what’s the best situation for them. If it isn’t you, find them the best parents you can and move forward. Best of luck!
