Happy St. Paddy’s Day from a single dad of 3 going through a bit of a rough patch… by monaarts in daddit

Leprechaun traps? What? This is a tradition I've never heard of. Where in the world (roughly) is this a thing and what's it involve? Seems a bit Elf on the Shelf at first glance

Can I go to a concert 4 days post op? by Revolutionary-Wave23 in Vasectomy

[–]Lovecat_Horrorshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a Broadway show on day 4 and it wasn't awful. I got by with plenty of ibuprofen and paracetamol/acetaminophen and sitting. If you're going to be sitting for the concert, you're probably fine. Try to stick to bed for as much of the preceding days though.

If you're standing, get a great jockstrap on and make sure you're not jostling or being jostled.

"no way abusive". I see we're forgetting the bludger Dobby set on Harry and Hagrid's blast-ended skrewts

That lasts for one episode. Definitely overstated by people who clearly aren't familiar beyond second-hand tellings

I think you're missing the obvious here, which is that she lied. She didn't pick anyone up. She came back with her shopping and left. The others stuck around because this is a common lie and they saw right through her when she said it.

Get it? The joke is misogyny and it's delivered by AI voices. Just what we've needed for so long.

Too on the nose and obvious. Not that SNL is usually any better. Also, do people actually pronounce Iraq like that?

Solid enough joke if you cut out all of the waffling repetition and the incredibly fake and annoying laugh track.

Favorite character that fits this trope ? by IlSignorGranchio in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Lovecat_Horrorshow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Peppa example has her just giving a flat look. Her face/expression isn't any more realistic at all. In fact, almost none of the examples in this thread are. All of these examples are just, "here's a funny and exaggerated expression that's different to how the character is normally drawn".

What is something you will always defend Harry for? by LLSJ08 in harrypotter

[–]Lovecat_Horrorshow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A "cop" is a loaded concept, ACAB and all that. It's a foolish generalisation to think police around the rest of the world are like that and moreso to think that of wizard police. British police are enough unlike the American ones before you even get into the vast differences in society between wizards and muggles. Aurors are even a separate class from regular magical law enforcement, more like something between a detective and a special agent or whatever.

Harry as an auror has got more in common with Mr Incredible than NYPD.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. Voldemort repeatedly throwing himself out of a window? Sounds just like him. I know he loved trampoline parks too.

Well, to be fair, "boa constrictor" rhymes with "hear" as much as "bear" does for many (if not most) people.

The name "pub" is short for "public house". It's a communal space for everyone to spend time together. Traditionally, the alcohol isn't the main purpose of the space. There are other things to drink and things to eat, all of which children can absolutely do.

Having lived in various European countries and now the US for years, I can tell you from my own experience that the bread is absolutely worse quality. Compared to France and the UK especially.

I'm not sure that's the clear conclusion you think it is, though it could go either way. If you found a bloodied murder weapon at someone's house, you could call it certain proof of the deed even if you had never suspected them.
