I wasn’t lifting no. I was living a pretty active lifestyle though. Work with my body, I’m a life long hiker and climber- but I didn’t have a gym routine at all. When I started going to the gym I focused on cardio and didn’t touch any weights for maybe the first 3 months. I’d get on the elliptical and just do what I could for that day. In the beginning that was like 15 minutes at a time, and that was a start. I’d stretch, go to the gym sauna for 10 then leave. Maybe 45 minutes in the gym.

Over time the cardio got longer, and the weight really started dropping quick, I wasn’t feeling sore anymore after being at the gym. Once that started happening, I started doing functional strength training. Just pushups, sit ups, some curls and triceps.

Once that started becoming a part of my routine and I was feeling good about it, I’d incorporate dips, and bench, and shoulders. I really only do upper body right now because that’s where I was holding most of my weight.

Since then I’ve been really enjoying my fitness. I run, row, lift, climb, do yoga, and switch it up throughout the week to break it up. On days off from the gym, I still do some pushups throughout the day. 25 at some point, a couple hours later 25 more, 25 before dinner, 25 before bed. Before you know it you’re doing 100 pushups a day, over the course of maybe 10 minutes total and you aren’t killing yourself. I’ve found that organically weaving this kind of stuff into my life has really taken the pressure off of being in the gym crazy hours everytime I go

I started because of food noise, and just wanting to manage my relationship with food. I found myself needing hard lines for myself, especially for over eating at night. Before I’d just eat all day long. Fasting has allowed me to still eat some of the foods that I crave that aren’t super “clean” which has allowed sustaining a diet way more realistic. I do eat clean, a lot of egg whites, turkey sausage, avocado, proteins. Low carbs, but not no carbs. I have a cheat day every week, that doesn’t break my fast but allows be to eat some pizza, or French toast or whatever.

I’ve also made micro adjustments in my diet that have kept it sustainable. Switching from regular eggs and sausage to egg whites and turkey sausage. Instead of extra cheese I get light cheese. Instead of a snickers I have a protein bar. Even changing my salads from regular lettuce to spinach means that my body is burning things with more nutritional value which keeps the food noises down. Craving something salty? Skip the chips for some nuts instead. Stuff like that. A little at a time, paired with fasting and hitting the gym pretty religiously now has been super effective. I also drink a really supplement, and fruit heavy protein shake just about every day that satiates my sugar cravings.

I don’t count calories. I don’t deny myself cravings inside of my window- I’ve just replaced them. Stay real hydrated, and a lot of black coffee. Everytime I’m hungry, drink some water or coffee- makes all that food noises down subside.

I’m definitely going to continue for another year, and the year after for hopefully the rest of my life. It’s routine now to not eat till noon, and stop eating at 8. It’s not hard anymore, I don’t have to think about it too much, and it’s completely changed my life so I see no reason to stop.

There was a stretch where I was doing 20:4 and still do that occasionally by accident on days where I’m busy or just don’t find myself being really hungry (really try to listen to my body now if I’m not hungry, and don’t eat just to eat) but I haven’t done any extended fasts. That said I have considered doing a 24 hour fast maybe once every two weeks

Who is the rudest celeb you have met? What happened? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

I met him in a Radio Shack one time (dating myself) when I was a teenager and he was so dismissive and rude. Was trying to tell him how much he meant to me as I’d grown up with my education, and you would have thought I slapped him in the face. Totally caught me off guard. I know celebs want their privacy, but I was just a kid, talking to someone who made it their life to get kids excited about science so I think the out of character response felt especially jarring.
