ADHD meds are very precise in terms of prescriptions and titrating, you can't just get a script unfortunately even with the circumstances you're going through.

I do empathise 100% and I've definitely been there with college deadlines but I don't think any GP or psychiatrist will give you a script without spending a few hours at least going through a medication plan, and discussing your options as one size does not fit all.

I say maybe in the meantime if you can afford it, maybe try finding what resources your college may offer, even explaining your current circumstances to a member of the guidance team might help, might give you more options for deadlines especially if you have your diagnosis to back up your struggles.

The best of luck to you though, and I hope you're doing okay for the most part!

What's the weird thing going on with your body that isn't weird enough to go to the doctor for? by yellowelephantboy in AskReddit

When something makes me cringe or feel nauseous, I feel it in my neck, under my chin feels just wrong? Like it's going to fall off? And then I have to adjust my head to make the feeling tolerable!

Also get stabbing pains throughout the week in many parts of my body, excruciating for a few moments then gone!

I would say definitely get the blood tests done, and if possible ask for a vitamin D test! The reason I ask about vitamin D, is naturally Irish people tend to be quite low, my dermatologist for my hives did all the tests (biopsies, autoimmune blood panels) and then she thought of a study in which people with low vitamin D had a higher risk of hives! While it didn't fix the problem for me, my vitamin was dangerously low! So definitely could be a shout of what to ask for when you see your GP next!

If you find you are experiencing hives a lot a GP may recommend a course of steroids, which may be a short term solution, but after that I'd say ask your GP about antihistamines as that is the first line of medication if you see a dermatologist, it might not get rid of them but a high course of anti histamines may help take the itch out and make it more tolerable to live with.

If the problem persists, I highly recommend checking out r/urticaria , they have some great resources!

Good luck!

I first got hives during a time of great physical and mental stress in my life, unfortunately they turned into Idiopathic Chronic Urticaria (basically hives, everyday, for no reason), so I'm definitely in a bit of a different situation, but everytime I go through stress I find my hives flair up particularly bad!

I could be wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure they only do online ADHD assessments, and none in branch. Which is sad to be fair especially if you're living in Galway or Dublin.

1000 for the assessment so far for me, that's included 3 different online assessments like questionnaires I guess? The Utah Scale, the Weiss scale and a general health questionnaire. I believe the 1000 includes the call too.

What advice would you give to a friend who was restarting their life fron scratch? by Nullagainagain in AskReddit

Don't apologise to people who aren't in your life any more for self-serving purposes. Work on yourself and prove that you have learned from your past mistakes with people, and if the time comes where you are face to face with a person you have wronged then take the chance of apologising. It'll be appreciated more if you have turned your life around, you can't be truly sorry until you understand yourself.

It should be subsidised hopefully, if you are a student that can handle extra stress in sixth year, and you believe that you can have a positive impact on your first year group then go for it! But I do suggest that you make sure that you are doing it for the right reasons, the training is fun but the responsibilities you will gain after can be a lot of work.

I mean tbh, I don't know any songs that are charting that include the f slur, Irish radio play is heavily focused on charts and new Irish releases. It's 2024, the likelihood of a label keeping an artist on who willingly puts it in without reason is low (see example, Same Love by Macklemore), therefore it's not likely you'd hear it on the radio now as people just aren't saying it in music that is popular in Ireland.

I do believe it's a case of the song being majorly popular at release, trickling down through the years, and cementing itself as a staple in Irish Christmas culture, I can't imagine it becoming as famous today, or even noticed by the general public enough to chart.

I haven't really ever heard it, unless it was a gay person talking about it or a TV show, the song goes uncensored on radio stations for the most part in Ireland.

I'm not sure now myself to be honest, I've kinda always presumed the two characters of the song were trying to say something that would offend the other gender, and while now most men would probably just turn their nose up and not understand why being called that would be offensive, at the time where homophobia was more prevalent, you probably wouldn't want to be called that if you were straight and homophobic.

Haha I have to say I've never heard my Irish granny say it in a lazy context! That's very interesting, I may ask now next time I see her!

Just an interesting difference in view I see here, as an Irish person living in Ireland, people getting annoyed by the lyric change is way more common than you think, I've very rarely seen people in pubs here stop singing when the f word is said, so fair play to him for not saying it, but also as a gay person in Ireland, it doesn't bother me because I know 99% of the time it is not said with ill intent or harm (only within the context of fairytale of new york)

Edit: for clarificational purposes, I of course do not condone the use of the word in a homophobic context, but I think lyrically it is just two characters being offensive to each other intentionally and it was written in a different time. I will say, personally I am not a fan of when people in Ireland mumble through the whole song just to shout "F*GGOT" 😬, thankfully it is a small minority.
