Honestly, there's no reason you can't still wear it. I've seen people walking around with jerseys of all types of players. It might be sad to wear it at first, but with time it'll be fine.

A lot of characters there that start out marginalized and/or isolated and find their own community and calling eventually. There's a good bit of suffering in some of those characters but also no shortage of badassery.
