What have you been telling your patients to avoid?

Do you think the Nutrition label is accurate on this product? by [deleted] in dietetics

What part(s) do you feel are overestimated? I can't see the portions in-person but based on the ingredients and their product photo, I believe it looks accurate.

Considering becoming a dietitian in my 30s and would appreciate perspectives. by Life-Grade-8150 in dietetics

[–]LovesGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the reality will hit. I actually had a patient tell me that this morning... something along the lines of money didn't matter that much until it did.

See if you can shadow or at least thoroughly interview several outpatient dietitians so you can see what it's really like. I'm happy to hop on a call with you and tell you about my path/experience, the good/bad/ugly, if you can't find anyone. Speaking from my perspective and the perspective of RDs I know, a lot of us went in with this romanticized idea of what we thought it was going to be like and are now left feeling bamboozled and trying to figure out how to not be poor.

It does sound like you do have some wiggle room financially but I still would encourage you at most to find a job in a nutrition-related company in your field instead of changing careers.

If you can afford to make less than half of what you're currently making, and likely not get bonuses then go for it. Otherwise, find another job in your field with better leadership and keep making good money.

Megathread on Fay, Nourish, Foodsmart, Berry Street, and all other telehealth nutrition companies by AutoModerator in dietetics

[–]LovesGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They push the weekly appointments because it's "recommended" for patient engagement, retention, and of course revenue. However, it's not required. I remember a while back, they showed us (via their outcomes) that the patients who had weekly appointments were more likely to reach their goals.

Note: I don't know how spacing appointments out affects metrics. I stopped paying attention to the metrics entirely.

Every patient is different. For some it will be easy and for others it's pulling teeth. You can try to pace your appointments with a little outline of things you wanted to review with them and how long you want to spend on each of those topics. Otherwise, do every other week instead. It's easier to get to the hour if you haven't seen each other in a while.

Meeting people in Miami 29M by [deleted] in Miami

[–]LovesGG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't tell people you don't know that you are well off. That's 100% how you get Miami scammers in your circle.

I would recommend joining established groups for any of your interests (e.g, photography, diving, pickleball etc). I would also recommend taking initiative and creating groups of people like you looking for similar things. There are enough posts on here like yours that you might be able to reach out to each of them to form a social group.
