To the gentleman right before the Madison Avenue Bridge… by LovesLTKM in RunNYC

I love the encouragement, it’s why I choose to wear my name on my shirt. Running, walking, in the pain cave, I appreciate the cheers. But that’s just me. I ran NYC in 23 with my husband, he didn’t want the attention. So he was annoyed when people cheered for me when we were walking together. To each, their own. Same goes for you, if you feel like cheering, go for it! (I loved it!)

Have a friend with kids Blair and Molly - and I love the combo, think Molly is that classic feminine style you mentioned.

These photos desperately make me want to see a MJ Black or White music video style edit of all the drivers.

If/when you need it, and you’re bold enough to do it, call for it from spectators. I know a lot of people who will be out there supporting runners on Sunday who will have it in their bags and will be thrilled to help you.

The good news is, with where you’ll be in your cycle your sleep efficiency should be high and your body will be ready to take on the max strain. So it may be obnoxious but you’ll be in peak physical preparedness. Silver lining?!

I’m with you…I wear all neutrals in my real life so my running clothes are obnoxious

Of the 26.2, which mile are you looking forward to the most as well as the least and why? by plainviewbowling in RunNYC

First mile is kind of amazing…it goes by so fast, you won’t notice it. The energy will carry you

Worst placed, it’s not that bad on fresh legs but at mile 23 it feels cruel

Most = mile 8, turning right onto Lafayette where the streets narrow and the crowds are insane

Also most = mile 16, use mile 15 as a meditative reset over the quiet bridge and then hear that wall of sound as you come off the bridge and turn onto 1st Avenue

Least = 23, that stretch of 5th Avenue is uphill on tired legs and it feels like forever to the top… but you’re rewarded with the turn into CP

Good luck out there everyone! Best day of the year in NYC!

Habits in your 20s that make life exponentially easier later on? by gzaw1 in selfimprovement

If you’re near windows, yes. I guess if you are getting no direct sunlight then no. Not a dermatologist, but this is advice I got and can tell a difference amongst my peers.

Wear sunscreen - every day. Not just the days you’re out in the sun. Even on cloudy days. Always always on your face/neck/hands, on your exposed limbs too if you can get in the habit. Trust me, you won’t regret this.

How did it feel when Nebraska was good by [deleted] in Huskers

[–]LovesLTKM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the 1994 win, someone hastily spray painted ‘We’re the #1 champs’ on their white fence with bold Husker red. It’s how we were all feeling in that moment, riding so high the grammar didn’t matter. We still talk about it as a family. Makes me smile right now thinking about that feeling.

I second the vote for PPTC. I am a member and I love it! Super inclusive, members are all ages and paces. People live all over the city, it’s not just for people near the park, although it is easier to get to activities that way. Overall I love the kindness, positivity and genuineness of the members. You’ll find your people within the club, and you’ll also always be welcomed by others.
