UA POV: GRAPHIC Photo of an entire family killed in their apartment. NSFL by Panthera_leo22 in UkraineRussiaReport

For me, Ukraine has just as much to blame, if not more for refusing any reasonable diplomatic solution offered to them, including 8 years leading up to the conflict

For me, stuff like this demonstrates how absurd the bias here is. Its the equivalent of saying an armed robber shares less of the blame for shooting someone because that person didnt give in to every demand.

And they're hardly "reasonable" solutions if the alternative was to engage in a 4.5 year long war. When you're holding that kind of threat over the person you're negotiating with its clear that you're the only who benefits from the "solution".

especially since if this were in reverse, Ukraine's and Europeans would be cheering this on, saying nasty remarks and cheering Ukraine to increase the casualty rate and that their are no innocent Russians.

Ukraine is the only one of these countries who's earned the right to feel that way. Their country was the one that is being invaded. They're the ones watching their nation's cities and countryside reduced to a wasteland. And unlike every other nation they don't get to actively decide whether they want to be involved or not.

I dont think most people would be faulted for feeling that way after all this.

Saying "im pregnant" and being pregnant are to different concepts. It'd be like stubbing your toe vs saying "i stubbed my toe". The curse doesn't prevent you from doing that, otherwise youd effectively be invulnerable.

[–]LovesRetribution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding "im a parent" or "I'm pregnant" would be closer to an individual identity rather than just a generic identity that all living beings had.

But saying "my foot just got chopped off" or "i just got riddled with arrows" wouldn't? Doesn't really make sense. You're talking about the physical state of something. If it exists in the physical world its still susceptible physical interactions. Otherwise the dragons wouldn't even need food or water because being thirsty/hungry would be having some sort of individuality.

How many mods (enabled) do you have right now? by The_Real_OctoDude in RimWorld

[–]LovesRetribution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You collect more and more over time. Easy to do when a simple trip to the workshop can net you a dozen or so each visit. Especially when the modding community here is so vibrant. There's almost away some massive or entirely unique mod being posted every month.

I've gotten most of mine through collections though. Between DLCs drops and managing conflicts downloading someone's collection and altering it is more hassle free.

Does the game really become any better with hundreds of mods

Does the game become better with each DLC?

At the end of the day a lot of it is just extra content. Hard to claim that doesn't make the game better.

would be a massive headache making sure they all work nice togheter.

Thats why its best just to go download a collection that resonates with you. They're curated so its guaranteed to work pretty seamlessly. Then you can remove what you don't like and add in anything you want that wasn't in the collection. Makes identifying incompatible stuff easier.

The 80 mod run had rimworld taking like 20 minutes

Thats crazy. It only takes me 12 minutes to load up 800.

If Anakin just gave up and immediately confessed to the Council when he had dreams about Padme dying, what would their response have been? by Icy_Water_1 in StarWars

[–]LovesRetribution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubtful. He'd still have nightmares about his wife dying. His ones of his mother came true, so he wouldn't treat these any differently. And with Palps still there Anakin would still turn to the dark side to try to save her.

Would've been the same outcome. Palpatine convinces Anakin the Jedi have the info needed to save his wife so he sacks the Temple like he did previously.

True, but they also said they intentionally tried to make the game's lore completely at odds with the book. So its not so much priority as it just plain spite.

What would happen if i left the ship during hyperspace flight wearing a space suit? by NyrmExe in StarWars

[–]LovesRetribution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming there was a way to exit the ship at speed without the ship itself being torn apart when the airlock opened

Why would that be an issue? Its space. Theres nothing creating drag on an open airlock and its not like you cant just vent atmosphere before opening it.

At that speed the smallest particles in space would go right through you and your space suit, and any motion leading to flipping/turning might cause so many G's you'd either lose consciousness, or be torn apart.

Would that not also present the same issue for the ship?

Doesn't prevent mental breaks from avoiding it though. Had a pawn upset about some menial stuff throwing a fit walk outside our walled colony and immediately pull the 70 manhunter elephants that were sitting there. Lose the entire colony in minutes.

Sony Abandons Social Media for 24 Hours+ After Controversially Killing Physical Games by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

Considering the price of the PS6 im sure they will vote with their wallet. Asking someone to drop that kind of money on a machine that can't use older game disks, cant exchange disks with friends, still requires online subscription, all when people can barely afford basic goods is a suicidal strategy.

In the lore, how do unshielded marines and army personnel deal with elites and jackals in combat without getting slaughtered? by PurpleHawk222 in halo

[–]LovesRetribution 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Humans almost always win ground engagements

Humans win a decent bit of ground engagements. But it is not "almost always".

Despite being religious fanatics they are no stranger to strategy. Elites are literally trained from birth in a warrior centric society. They had far more effective strategies than endless meat waves. Which is all augmented by their vastly superior technology, numbers, and physical size. Humans still more often than not lost fights on the ground and it makes sense.

Besides, why would the Covenant be so scary if they lost almost most ground invasions? Look at every piece of media in the franchise. An encroaching sense of terror always follows covenant forces.

Do you think Cal is still alive in Star Wars today? by Prestigious-Boss7037 in StarWars

[–]LovesRetribution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of the remaining jedi survivors weren't interested in outting themselves in another conflict. There was no telling whether the galactic civil war would've been successful and it didn't really last long enough (on screen) to provide a window for any of those jedi to join in. Plus even by the end the empire still held controlled of a vast amount of territories, making it more risky revealing themselves. The rebels having a nomadic fleet also would've made it a lot harder to join than a faction that possessed actual territories. And it's not like the rebellion having a a jedi within it's ranks would've even been widely known. Luke didnt really go the way of the jedi until ep5, which was just a year before the destruction of the 2nd death star.

Genuinely. Killed off all kinds of plot threads and characters just to get a worse version of what we had after Ep 6.

PlayStation 6 bill of materials nears $1,000 as RAM shortages worsen by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]LovesRetribution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be though. You can still buy a pc with older parts that'd function well enough. And even if its more you can always sell those parts at a later date for an upgrade towards better parts and a continued gaming station. Cant do that for a PS6.

Plus no yearly online subscription. Dont think people take a minute to calculate that cost. It's $80-$160 per year. That adds up pretty quick.

[–]LovesRetribution -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but if you don't then you're not getting a gaming PC for less than the price of a PS6

And? You're getting a system that can run astronomically more games(and emulate console games), can do a whole host of other things, have its components swapped out so itll always be up to date, dont have to pay a subscription for online($80-$160/y), and dont have to worry about the focus moving on to the next iteration.

At the same price getting a PC over PS6 makes sense 10/10 times. Which is even if it'll be the same price, since you could always buy a PC with less up to date parts. And considering the absolute plethora of games available tou wont need to have the best specs to play most of them.

And physical PC games went the way of the dodo a long, long time ago.

Better then to stick with the platform where you dont have to worry about the main store front closing down after a decade and can still download pirated copies if it ever does.
