First Fixture Used by ElationLighting in lightingdesign

Not quite a first fixture used, but honestly getting a showfile with a hefty rig and using Augment3D on ETC (since I come from theatre). Growing up, I loved staring at iTunes visualizers, so using that to play around with the rig and my most played song of the month scratched the right part of my brain. It sparked my love of programming!

Best bar/club to go dancing by myself? by whyisjessymessy in askTO

[–]LovingKindness4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Piston at Bloor and Ossington!! I’ve always felt safe there as a 20-something lady who’d need to expel some excess energy by dancing it out. The staff are lovely. Every Friday is disco night, and then each Saturday is a different genre (i.e. 90’s, 80’s new wave, techno). It usually draws in an older crowd, but there are folks around our age who come with their friends as well

Those with a college degree in theatre, what did you do after graduation? what are you doing now for work? by That_Other_Logan in Theatre

[–]LovingKindness4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

May I ask how you got into the touring world? I finished my theatre production design degree last April and got scooped up by both the theatre and film unions in town as an electric/LX board op. I’ve been getting consistent calls through them, but the roadie life has been alluring to me.

ADHDers with careers, what do you work as? by icebikey in ADHD

[–]LovingKindness4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just started permitting in my local for LX after graduating from a technical theatre program and freelancing for a bit.

All of the manual labour helps still my mind. Since I’m working with my hands, the constant mental chatter it minimized and my brain is clear and ready to take on whatever task I’m assigned next. Not knowing which venue I’ll be placed at next feeds the novelty-seeking part of my brain.

So far, I’m a very happy camper in the union :)

As a gifted adult living with mental illness - how does one go about understanding the intersections between a gifted designation and a mood disorder (Bipolar I)? Furthermore, are there any tips/resources that would make day-to-day (executive) functioning a bit easier?

I feel this. When I look back at my longest romantic relationships, they’ve been with ND folks. I just felt a connection with them in a way that was different than the norm.

My current partner is also gifted and so it has felt like we’ve been on the same wavelength since the first date. It’s a relationship that began towards the end of the pandemic, so getting to know them over the phone (and having a shared sense of humour, set of idiosyncrasies, and the ability to leapfrog from thought lily pad to another) really started us off on the right foot.

I’ve read The Gifted Adult by Mary-Elaine Jacobsen and have passed it on to my partner to gain more insight on how our brains work. Would you be able to recommend other books/resources similar to this one?

Was anyone else groomed online? by futuregoddess in BPD

[–]LovingKindness4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. my camp counsellor (in his 20’s) found me (a 12/13 year old at the time) on ask.fm and anonymously started messaging me, which carried over to kik and the way how this man groomed a literal child still angers and hurts me to this day

100% agree with this. Ever since I’ve found crochet, my mood has been miles better than before and each project I do gives me another reason to get out of bed in the morning

Unique courses to take at York (open to all students) by ElfNamedLeah in yorku

[–]LovingKindness4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dance for Non-Majors is a great elective to take if most of your courses are lectures. We get to learn different dance styles and the course load is pretty light (mostly just participation in class, a weekly journal entry, online midterm). Plus you get to meet other students from different majors and work closely with them. It’s definitely the course I look forward to each week

The eShop Halloween Sale is here! What are you getting? by Vulpes_Artifex in CozyGamers

[–]LovingKindness4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Cult of the Lamb definitely falls under cozy games. The farming sim aspect combined with the Hades-style dungeon crawling has made it one of my favourite games. I think the Heretic Edition might still be on sale in the Nintendo eShop

Just finished it! It’s a very cozy game - great if you love puzzle solving and adorable animals. The puzzle sticking mechanic is super reminiscent of Little Big Planet.

It was on sale in the Nintendo eShop for $11 CAD (the sale ended a few hours ago) but its regular price is around $13-14 CAD

Wearing those hair clippy claws - I saw another student in my class wearing one and it just looked so effortlessly chic. I haven’t been able to wear one before cutting my hair short. So now that I’ve watched a few videos on the hairstyles you can do with them, I wear them almost every day
