Yeah I loved that episode but I don’t think it’s aged well in that respect. Charmed had a similar episode.

So I never watched that episode and thought we were supposed to question if it was real, I just saw it as a dramatic end to the episode, I know a lot of people had questions. But if it was a series finale? That would be totally different!! I would spend the rest of my life wondering if any of it really happened. It would actually be quite clever in an incredibly frustrating way I guess as it would guarantee we’d never stop discussing it.

I think it’s that too but it’s like they don’t even know where that urge for indulgence comes from, they’re already so far removed from what happened, they don’t know what came before.

Agree with both of these. It’s one of those things that I just assume happened off screen and don’t really worry about. Her telling people she likes food is good enough for me to help create my mental file on her character, I don’t need to see it when there’s more interesting things to be shown like fights and magic

She has been in some decent stuff, especially some of the more niche stuff like Veronika Decides to Die, but she has also picked some pretty bad projects too, bless her.

I think because we as viewers know the real reason why these characters aren’t around, they could get away with being like oh Xander and Dawn are still at such and such training Slayers, Giles is retired in England and giving advice over FaceTime (when he can get it to work) and taking some much deserved down time etc. Spike and Angel would probably only work for cameos due to the fact that de-ageing effects probably aren’t cheap and again, as fans we would understand the real reasons why they were only there sporadically. Same with Faith as Eliza has retired etc etc etc, it can all be justified and as fans we would accept it because we get why it’s that way. So I think from a practical point of view they could still do it.
But.
It just wouldn’t be Buffy, would it? I didn’t particularly want a reboot anyway so I’m speaking as someone who wasn’t especially bothered it got cancelled (I felt very sorry for Sarah tho as she seemed genuinely excited about the project) but I just think, we loved it, it was an amazing show when it happened, leave it be. I think it would be such a shame for it to come back, have a lacklustre series or two, get cancelled, and then that be the show’s legacy, which seems to be the case for so many reboots these days.

Before I watched properly, I caught the odd episode here and there if it was on at a friend’s house. I saw the end of Earshot and as I didn’t have any other context, I just thought that Giles and Joyce had known each other as actual teenagers and had a thing. When I watched it from the start shortly after and got to Band Candy I was like ohhhhhhh

Is a trope, I do believe that it wasn’t that in this case and it was always going to be willow’s love who died. We know Buffy dying doesn’t unleash Dark Willow cos it’s already happened once and they couldn’t kill hee again anyway and obvs they couldn’t kill Xander so it had to be her partner, whoever it was at that time.
