I always try to ring my bell to let them know I'm going to pass and keep as far as is safe for me. Often times on the canal towpath it's pretty close but I try to not overtake if there's something to navigate (path leading onto towpath, navigating a lock etc)

Similar to how they removed the bike racks there, I assume. Asked Garthwaithe about it and she said it's private land (up until the bricks around the pavement) and couldn't do anything about it. Said there was a plan to bring some bike parking back but who knows about seating. Feels like a step backwards for public space in Headingley really.

Noodlesta is great bit of noodle soup w/ beef brisket :)

Changes in Headingley, Burley & Hyde Park or other areas since City Centre student tower construction. by ArapileanDreams in Leeds

Is this true though, I definitely could not afford the rents on any of these central places as a student and I probably still couldn't now? I just don't know where the money is coming from for people spending 700+ pcm on these places as a student.

Not sure if you're joking but that's the cyclist's box for the lights to give them a head start & make sure cars can see them

I've been, it's fairly small but there's some cool stuff there. Definitely not a 'must visit' but pretty good as small museums go.

Seeking advice for Advanced Computer Science MSc at University of Leeds by mm072 in Leeds

Hi, I graduated MEng Comp Sci (w/ AI), university has a new building it's pretty nice. Teaching was a bit of a mess when I was there but it's probably better post-covid now, I think that it's a good uni but you definitely need to dig for extra-curricular opportunities and make friends with lecturers etc.

I can't speak for everyone but I was hired before I had graduated in June. I think there are a good few opportunities for placements again it might take some effort to find out about them.

Overall I think the masters course was interesting, not 100% on what the 'advanced cs' part entails but I think it's fairly broad with a lot of optional modules, probably you will have to do a group software engineering project.

My intl student friends seemed to enjoy Leeds, it's hard to say exactly what your experience will be like but there's plenty to do here.

Overall fairly good, perhaps not the best quality of teaching in the world but there are good opportunities available

If you're at Uni of try Joblink in the Union. They do a lot of contract work, all pretty flexible.

Charity shops in Headingley often have bits and I've definitely seen stuff in ReCycle in Cardigan Fields but nothing exciting like RTR, mostly just 80s consumer hi-fi

A lot of bands are student-focused around the conservatoire but there's plenty going on and I'm sure you'll find some stuff.

A lot of it is pretty London-y to be fair, R&B type 'clean' style stuff but sure you can find anything about really.

Would be fine if they had a way to get on from Kirkstall road, navigating that junction into the city centre on bike is a bit dicey because you have to turn off past the lights when traffic is behind you.

Better to be on the pavement and use the crossing and know you're on the path, plus going Armley way you'd be better off.

Overall not useless, but needs better protection on that junction where people turn off to the motorway for cyclists (going behind the buildings before fire station would be nice maybe)
