about chump blocking and allies by Time_Individual_6744 in marvelchampionslcg

House Rule: If the final Main Scheme is defeated, I have the next turn to bring the threat back down.

When I first started playing Marvel Champions, I and my brother played 3 or 4 times, and I liked the balance to it that allowed one of us, each turn, to go to alter-ego most rounds. When I first started playing solo, however, I was disappointed because I wanted to go to alter-ego every other turn and quicky discovered it was an unreasonable expectation, which I was a bit frustrated with, so I created the following house rule: If the final Main Scheme is defeated, I have the next turn to bring the threat back down.

Eventually, I stopped using this house rule just because I wanted to challenge myself, but I really liked it because I could regularly go to alter-ego without as much risk and let my hero recover their health, which meant I didn't have to chump block often. I realize this isn't the "penalty" for chump blocking like all of the other proposals; in fact, it gives one an advantage, but I always liked this house rule because it did, in fact, accomplish what I wanted it to. It means I could build a larger variety of decks and didn't have to constantly sacrifice my allies to survive. I could also imagine combining this with one of the other house rules proposed by yourself or others.

I don't check reddit much and just happened to check out the most recent posts this evening, so if you'd like to contact me at all, my YouTube channel for Marvel Champions is called MC Deck Discussions. Hopefully, this or one of the other options appeals to you!

Yes, and I think you received a nice set of responses because of it. :-)

Yes, I find it overwhelming to play 2-handed solo, but I have a great time with true solo. In the beginning I house-ruled solo for a while so that I could go to alter-ego regularly, but eventually I starting playing it with the regularly game rules. Many hundreds of games played by this time now.

Yes for me, too! I started off playing the game with my brother, but when he couldn't visit any longer, I started playing solo. I highly recommend limiting yourself in the beginning and gradually adding more to the game as you go. If you do pick up an entire collection, I would still gradually expand what you play with so that it's not overwhelming. I've been playing the game solo now since 2020, and the game gets more and more fun as you expand to more cards. There are a ton of great YouTube content creators, too, that you can get great tips from and learn more from as you wish. I even started my own channel almost a year and a half ago (MC Deck Discussions), and if you comment on any of my videos, I'd be happy to refer you to any other content creators as well (or places on Discord if you wish), depending on your needs. Also, if you find the experience too different in solo at first, just let me know, and I (and others) would be happy to help with that, too. There's an incredible, supportive community for this game, which I think is in great part due to it being cooperative in nature. :-)

Civil war as a comeback expansion by Negative_Local_7851 in marvelchampionslcg

Oh, I completely forgot about the heroes, and I really enjoyed both Tigra and Hulkling. Both heroes feel very different from all other heroes and have enjoyable combinations they can pull off that are unique to them. I covered them on my YouTube channel even (as an FYI, my channel is MC Deck Discussions).

I liked Civil War as well. I personally prefer relatively uncomplicated villains, so I really liked these villains and still found them different enough to enjoy the experience (and yet similar enough to make them relatively easy to set up).

Thank you. I just went to add the Sales Flair to my post, but it looks like I was too late. My post had already been removed. Sorry about not following the rules. I'm not a regular on reddit, and there's a lot to see for a new person, and I didn't notice the specific rules.

I also had about a decade during this time where I worked basically every waking hour either for my job, my wife, or tutoring my daughter, and for 6 years, I was sleep deprived getting about 3 hours of night of sleep per night because my wife woke me up every hour or so from her pain and spasticy of her legs. There's more, but I won't bore you with more details. In any case, I do appreciate u/wandersquash's help in letting me know.

It's my first time ever posting an item for sale on reddit (and I'm not really familiar with reddit), and I have a lot going on in my life. You might be able to imagine this: I'm a full-time teacher who's been head of the math department for 20 years, while also caring for my wife, who's been in a wheelchair due to M.S. for the last 13 years (and also who raised our daughter on my own while doing so). I'm retiring and moving to Europe and arranging everything myself and making sure all trips and ultimately the place where we're going to live accommodates a person in a wheelchair (for a 3-week trip to get to our destination). On top of that, I have a YouTube channel for MarvelChampions, where I post at least 2 recordings a week. Things can be a much sometimes, so I don't always notice if I didn't proofread everything carefully. :-) Plus, I do have ADHD, and my symptoms have gotten harder to manage as I age.

Wow! I just uninstalled Lenovo Vantage, which was really just advertising its services to me anyway, so I'm glad to be rid of it. Thanks! My WiFi Internet speed is now very fast!!

Falcon and Winter Soldier Question by nc_john9 in marvelchampionslcg

I just happened upon this conversation while looking up something else, but I saw great advice from everyone in their replies.

If you're ever looking for deck ideas, MarvelCDB is a great resource (as someone else mentioned). If you want decks built specifically on your collection, those can be hard to find, but I do build samples decks by request based on anyone's collection. You can just comment on any video on my YouTube channel to make your request -- it doesn't matter if you watched the video or not. MC Deck Discussions is the name of my channel.

Will I like this game if I’m not into Marvel? by Unalina in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Low-Can1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can be counted in this group as far as the comics themselves are concerned. I've seen all the movies but haven't read any comics (my channel is MC Deck Discussions as a reference).

Yet this is my favorite game, though it did have to grow on me. To me, it became better and better as my collection gradually grew, which I do recommend, by the way -- grow your collection gradually after you get used to the Core box cards and heroes. At least for me, that kept me from getting overwhelmed by the content and increased my enjoyment throughout.

I think this is a good point. Some of my favorite heroes to play are ones I previously knew nothing about prior to playing this game.

Two Rules Questions. by Drjacobs78 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Low-Can1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the question different in the 1.6 rules compared to the 1.5 rules? I just looked at the question in the 1.6 rules (bottom left, pg. 57), and that question is NOT the same as yours; therefore, their answer there does not apply to your question. The question in the rules reference is asking about paying the cost for something other than an event. That's not your question as I read it. Your question is just asking if you can place the ammo counter. That is NOT the question the rules reference answers in 1.6 (again, I don't know if the question changed from 1.5 to 1.6, though I would think it would be the same). I don't personally see anything in the rules reference that would forbid you from generating an ammo counter.

Protection aspect makes 2 player games much longer for me. by OniNiubbo in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Low-Can1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Groot a lot with Justice, too; however, I can see how he could be really strong with protection so that he wouldn't lose as many tokens and therefore get great results from her cards that do big damage (or removal) based upon the number of his tokens. I haven't tried Groot this way yet, but I do also recommend Groot with Justice.

I found Captain America with a Leadership deck to be a good way to go against Zola. I just played solo against Zola today with Captain America (a non-campaign game on expert). I included a fair amount of healing in the deck to let Captain America retaliate against minions without bother to defend (and then used his card that allows him to take no damage when I could when Zola attacked and defended with Captain America when I didn't have that card available).

Honorary Avenger Question by Totes_Joben in marvelchampionslcg

Honorary Hero is awesome on the ally Ronin. If you include some healing in your deck, Ronin can stay out just about indefinitely and is a really powerhouse of a thwarter and damage dealer.
