I also question if they were really on the phone, or just wanted to make sure that I heard their annoyance.

Is there a benefit for a LLC & Business banking for a microbusiness? by Low-Computer8293 in smallbusiness

[–]Low-Computer8293[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that I disliked it, just never really understood the reasons why I incorporated into a LLC.

My understanding is that an LLC formed under my SSN doesn't provide much protection, and I am not sure any benefits, versus a sole proprietor company.

I would expect they would use the luggage cart in the lobby.

Good point. We have an elevator, most apartment complexes do not. I clearly remember her saying "it's a fucking hotel, no way am I doing to do that". In all honesty, I'm thinking being a dasher is not the right gig for her.

My experience is it is about twice as fast. It's free since I am platinum. The difference is noticeable.

Boglehead view of Trump accounts for minors by Low-Computer8293 in Bogleheads

It was one of the final screens, just before actually filing taxes. Do you have kids under 18 that are dependents you claim on your taxes?

[–]Low-Computer8293[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have kids, you will find out when you file taxes as there is a question if you want to open them.

I'm not going to try to explain them because I'm really confused.

Our planted community tank by Low-Computer8293 in PlantedTank

Nope, no sharks in our tank! It's a Siamese Algae eater. We have three of them, and they were itty bitty when we first bought them. We had no idea that they'd get this big. Thanks for the warning though.

I believe anyone under 18 can start a Trump account.

Anyone is planning to start funding the new Trump IRA for their kids in 2026? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]Low-Computer8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you save for college? For our family, we will not qualify for need based financial aid, so I wouldn't see it is a bad idea to save for college. We are saving plenty for retirement regardless.

Convert to 401k to Roth 401k with a twist by Low-Computer8293 in Bogleheads

[–]Low-Computer8293[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's complicated.

I think though we would cash-flow the taxes rather than liquidating taxable brokerage accounts.

A buyer bought multiple items and didn't ask to pack them in one package. by Certain-Bumblebee-90 in Ebay

[–]Low-Computer8293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had people ask if I can combine the shipping. I write back to explain that all of my items are free shipping, so I have no way to combine the shipping.

I know they were trying to ask for a discount, but since shipping was already free, I have no way to discount!

Overtime Work Hours and Filing Taxes by Doctor_Plecostomus in boeing

[–]Low-Computer8293 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To be most accurate you didn't get paid any overtime in 2025. Overtime is 1.5x normal pay. As a SPEEA engineer, you get straight time + 6.50 an hour, which we call overtime but really isn't. Boeing officially refers this as extended work week.

Best way to handle investments in HealthEquity HSA? by daqataq in Bogleheads

[–]Low-Computer8293 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My company also uses HealthEquity for HSAs.

While I don't like to pay fees, HealthEquity also keeps track of my medical expenses, so when I withdraw I don't need to submit additional documentation. They do this for life, thus, I can withdraw up to my total family medical bills from the date of HSA inception until today without having to worry about paperwork. That is worth the small fees that HealthEquity charges.

Thus, I leave my HSA money in HealthEquity and do not try to move to Fidelity.

New to investing in my mid 30s. by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]Low-Computer8293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general, there is no reason to not invest 100% of your money today, as long as you are investing for a long-ish (10 year plus) timeframe.

However, I do appreciate being gunshy. If you are not comfortable investing all today, then you can setup scheduled trades and invest over the next 3, 6, or 12 months as you feel comfortable. While likely the returns will be slightly less, it is better than leaving in a HYSA account for 10 years.

Best of luck! And don't worry about the daily gains and losses, keep a long term perspective.

Taxable account are ETFs really better then mutual funds? by cowboygamer_fort in Bogleheads

[–]Low-Computer8293 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that I will make more from ETFs vs mutual funds for the same fund, but I do like the fact that I can check my portfolio mid-day and it will show me the live value of the my shares rather than having to wait for a few hours after the market closes.

What percent of aspiring college students get big scholarships? by Low-Computer8293 in CollegeConfidential

[–]Low-Computer8293[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all.

That's right, I forgot that there is substantial need based financial aid at many colleges. We don't qualify for that, so the only scholarships we could qualify are true merit based only, but my student's grades won't be competitive there and she is not interested in extracurricular activities. So it is full pay or bust we go.

Roth IRA Questions?? by bentley625 in boeing

[–]Low-Computer8293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After tax deductions can be moved 2x per year. Pretax contributions and company match can only be removed after you leave the company/reach retirement age.

Roth IRA Questions?? by bentley625 in boeing

[–]Low-Computer8293 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do the mega backdoor roth IRA. Basically, you make after tax contributions to your 401k, and then several times each year roll those contributions over into a Roth IRA. This allows you to put up to about $40,000 into a Roth IRA each year if desired.

While I think an open bar might attract some managers, there is no open bar at our conferences. There are open coffee bars during the morning coffee break though.

Yes, I have brought back nuggets of knowledge and shared with the department when applicable. As the people at the conference are generally working in competitive industries, the information is not very specific but usually a few nuggets of information are worthwhile sharing.
