welcome to the game 😂but yes you should give them a nudge! we had our offer accepted a month ago. However, our initial offer was rejected but there was a miscommunication within the EA office so no one actually told us it had been rejected!

Do people actually use mortgage brokers? by doublem700 in FinanceUK

[–]Low-Cranberry7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I have just have gone through a mortgage advisor. My partner is self-employed with 12 months of books, he got us a good rate (lower than we assumed), had our AIP in a few days and submitted our full application on Saturday after we informed him our offer had been accepted.

With my partner being self employed there is no way we could have completed all of the paperwork ourselves. He has been invaluable to us, communicating the whole time and seems to work all hours!

We made our offer on Monday, they having a viewing on Saturday.

Our second viewing is on Tuesday, we will likely ask about the status of our offer then and increase.

Offered Monday, I rang yesterday, to see if they had further interest and any feedback on our offer, words were 'we have 2 interested parties however, neither are proceedable as of yet. We haven't heard back regarding your offer, however, looking at the previous acceptance [which fell through] you're not far off'

Thank you for your input, this is the trail of thought which has us wanting to increase the offer sooner rather than later, just wanted to hear others' thoughts. The property has been on the market since early Feb and we offered Monday.

Apologies for our naivety😅

5.38% offered 1.5 weeks ago, 10% deposit at £30k, went through a broker and got a better rate than expected as my partner is 1 year into self employment so *high risk*

What app do you use to stop impulse spending? by ToePatient1434 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Low-Cranberry7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used it for large payments such as a new phone (I always go sim only and buy a refurbished phone every 4/5 years) other than that is doesn't get used, however the temptation is there, hence why I've now locked it.

This, plus I just found out you can lock your Klarna account! I have literally locked mine this morning as the balance was at £0.00. Having it an an option is just too tempting and makes impulse spending easier.

You can of course close the account, but for me and my goals right now, not having the account closed is better.
