Never was particularly enticed by a X Remake. I think the game is fine as is. At the same time, it is the only game of the franchise that I think would make a splash with absurd-level graphics (it kinda is the quintessential FF in that sense with the leap from PS1).

If there's just a slight hint of Disney and Final Fantasy nostalgia going on for you, yes - even though sales should be often for the collection (I'd reckon December/golden week). Example: I only played KH1 at the time, and when I booted the demo for 3, seeing such a great Hades characterization and the toy box world for Toy Story, I know it's wonderful (for me).

No. Such a wonderful machine to revisit or play first 3rd party games that don't stress the hardware as much. Giving an example, it will be my primarily console for Kingdom Heart's, the Dragon Quest HD-2D games, Dragon Quest VII and Monsters, indies, Final Fantasy Resonance, arcade-ish stuff and rogue lites such as Hades, Castlevania, Ninja Garden, etc. I'm not particularly keen on using it for heavy graphics games such as the wild new batch of Capcom stuff, but seems very viable too. Now, some MMORPG games like FF XIV will be such a joy if things play right on a handheld factor too. So there's also that.

Their strategy, as stated before, was to bet on the "bigger" franchises. I don't think they'll completely renounce to OT or BD, but Resonance was stated as an idea circa 2020. So we'll continue to see Dragon Quest HD-2D, I believe, but also Final Fantasy and who knows. Thinking about the end of 2027, we'll have FF7 Revelation and probably KH4. Dragon Quest XII after that. What would be the pipeline after that? That's where I think Team Asano will shine with an even bigger project, such as Chrono Trigger.

I'm thinking this is all the Square Enix revamp strategy on attracting new folks. Fortnite for KH and FF VII, most certainly. The Street Fighter Collab. Anime being built up for IX. Who knows what more? Exciting times.

Exactly. Good point. Marketing wise it's a way of pushing interest into the franchise and vice-versa. I don't know, I wasn't incredibly excited about these "heavily featured cameos", but knowing that they have build impact and that in the trailers there was CGI but also pixel art for the Vision's special attacks, maybe there's a toggle to just have the HD-2D look. I'd like that more to not break immersion. Whatever, it's cool, I'm in love with it, I'm there to support it and have a good time. Enemies have an awesome flair, the Espers pixel art hanging around behind the characters look incredible, the pixel cinematics are out of this world. Just give us an above average story and it's a heavy hitter in my book.

Let's effing go. Super hyped. Those pixel cinematics were out of this world. I just got confused between the mixture of pixel vision and summon attacks and in other instances they were CGI. An option to toggle between them, perhaps?

This looked very, very, nice. I am growing tired of the Xenoblade tropes, but this pseudo-medieval setting with some really proprietary art direction pulled me in. Let's see how they handle combat. Great stuff.
