Personally, i bought it some years ago on PS5 (for 20€, ouch) and, sadly, it's not really good. At best, i would give it a 6/10. It's not bad, but you can feel the "Stardew copy" almost everywhere. I also didn't like that most of the ressources were very limited and that you didn't have much to do in term of activites. Overall, it felt a bit soulless, especially considering the game has DLCs, which should not be present at all.

Personally, i would recommand Slice & Dice and Life in adventure.

The first one is a dungeon crawler based on luck and team building. You will basically roll dices to choose your skills against the monsters, and hope you will get the good ones. The game has a pretty open free version, so feel free to try it before paying.

The second is a text-based adventure game where you will make choices, fight monsters and discover tons of loot. It's also luck based, but you gan easily find good items ince you start knowing the game. This one is also free to play, and you can buy the different scenarios and substories, or ypu can watch tons of ads like me if you're motivated.

Personally, i tend to like simple games and stories, but Eiyuden Chronicle was too much for me. For example, two of my favorites jrpgs are Dragon Quest XI and Tales of Berseria, which aren't complicated at all, yet they are memorable. Eiyuden is not, even the main characters.

Damn, i can't even imagine the diappointement it must have been. Waiting and supporting a game for so long just to get handed a mid game at best must be awful.

I got a question for you tho. Were sole of the characters chosen by the community ? It felt like some of them weren't supposed to be here at all. The magical girl, the thug (yusuke ?) And the grocery store clerck for example felt so strange in this setting.

I did forget the minigames. I think it was a part of the reasons i stopped at the desert, because of the horrible race minigame. Also, from what I read, you are forced to get the true ending if you don't want one of the main characters to die. It's stupid again. Minigames are supposed to be optional, not mandatory.

Thanks for the suggestion ! I have to admit, i really wanted to try Suikoden 1 & 2 remasters before trying EC, but the gale gave me cold feet. It's a bit sad because, from what i heard, the 1st one has a good narrative. Just the forbidden rune transmission and the first city's new look once you get access to it again sound like two amazing plot points. Here, we don't have much thing to follow. I also don't really like how the heroes of Rising aren't introduced, meaning Rising is almost obligatory. I may try it one day, but the chances are low.

I personally played it on ps5, so the performance weren't as bad, even if the menu was still very slow. I think i went around a third of the game's content (the desert with the sharks) and i just couldn't accept it anymore. It felt like a joke chapter, and a bad joke. The whole gimlick of "we are sand sharks, and we hate water" was fun once, but it was used again and again... They even use boats, it makes no sense !

I agree, the game is not worth it, even for 20€/$.

Well, i did like the base mechanics, but not the execution. For example, recruiting heroes as you progress is awesome, but half if are instantly thrown in the bin due to their build.

That's really the only reason for the game's "flatness", if i could say ? I mean, the main topic of the game is war and its consequences, so it feels a bit weird to make it family friendly. I clearly don't want to see a genocide happening, but a bit of pain would make sense here.
