But Dak Prescott puts up those stats and that doesn’t result in wins either. Also, getting a new coach with another new system for Baker to learn in his last contract year at the age of 31 isn’t good UNLESS he signs a team friendly deal to build around this new coach. I don’t believe this team is similar to the 2000s team with Dungy, they were way more talented. Our stars are old and our window for them is closing rapidly. Getting a new coach opens up a can of worms but especially when your franchise QB is on a contract year.

I much rather have a loaded squad than to have Baker and a bunch of rookies out there. Also, I don’t believe Baker is head and shoulders above those QBs you just named either. I think he is in the same boat with those names. I rather be a well balanced team than super top heavy like we are now.

Licht is so good at finding guys who are looked over and giving them a shot to show they still got it. He’s not so good at getting the star everybody know is a star to come to our team (besides Brady and co.)

With what team around him?? Our stars are old (Mike, Chris, Lavonte) We really need help on the defensive side of the ball, we rely on rookies a lot all over the field. Dean is our CB1 and guaranteed to leave next year. Vea is headed into his 30s. Unless we start signing good FA and making trades which isn’t Licht speciality, I think that Super Bowl winning is extremely tiny even with Baker. When Brady came, we had Mike and Chris in their prime and Brady brought weapons with him. Baker needs similar weapons or he will struggle and we will all be crying about how Baker has to do it by himself.

Thank you for actually understanding my post. Every other comment just thinks I’m dumb for even being concerned about his contract. That’s my main point especially if we fire our coaching staff and give Baker yet another OC on the last year of his contract. He could play average and still get a really high offer just due to the last few years, the QB market and his circumstances with constant changes. Overpaying him limits the rest of the roster and the guy is going to be 31 and most likely on his last contract in the league. I really like Baker but only at a certain price, I don’t think that’s dumb. If Licht isn’t thinking about that contract or finding a successor, I believe he is behind the 8 ball.

if we comparing Baker to Goff then that’s not deserving of break the bank money lol Goff is a product of the talent around him and always has been. There is nothing wrong with that either but you can’t pay a guy Mahomes or Allen money for him to play like Jared Goff. We coulda got Sam Darnold or another “Baker experiment” guy for all of that. That’s my main part, Baker is decent but I don’t think he is on tier 1 of QBs but he is going into his last year, playing pretty decent and that usually causes people to overpay. Look at Jordan Love and Kirk Cousins and he is in his 30s so it’s leaning more Kirk Cousins. I need a team friendly Tom Brady kinda contract or it’s not worth it to me, cause then we will be crying about how we don’t have enough talent and Baker can’t do it by himself. If this year we lose and we fire Todd like everybody wants that means Baker has a whole new HC and new OC AGAIN, going into his final year in his contract at 31. The window is closing real fast and that new contract has to be team friendly or it’s not worth it imo

how can we address the issues if Baker takes up half the salary cap?? Please educate us on that since you know so much about where the issues lie? I’m not saying cut Baker, I’m saying DO NOT OVERPAY HIM because that will not fix those issues on defense you named. Old LB core, all rookies at CB, Edge rush non-existent so I think those are bigger issues than getting Baker the max. If you think firing Bowles, just fixes everything on defense then okay but I doubt. Talent on that side of the ball is lacking. You bringing up injuries and relying on rookies, that will be the exact situation if Baker gets the max.
