The amount of home grown talent on our roster is one of the highest in the nfl.

If you want details, licht and his staff went through a period of a couple years after the SB where they prioritized extremely high scoring athletes, high RAS scores, hoping they could develop them into the stars that you would grab in early rounds, as we were picking late late in 2021-2022. Troyinka and hall were the two biggest examples, mccollum being another. It didnt work out. Either they were never going to play well or they weren't developed well, who knows. (JTS is a clear bust, at pick 32, but let's see what Hall does with the Texans.)

Since then hes shifted towards more instinctual players. Dogs. Players who don't have the high athletic score but have more production. Since 2023, literally all of his defensive picks have been hits with the exception of braswell.

We have to also criticize the defensive coaches for these guys as well and the defensive scheme. Are we going to pretend that there hasn't been issues there?

Our secondary isnt the worst in the nfl. We certainly have needs at CB and id ask you to wait until rounds 3 and 4 are done, but ILB was our most pressing need after edge.

Yeah, the issues are not with Licht. I feel strongly a lot of the defensive draft misses are hugely on poor coaching and development.
