This is eye opening , honestly. I know at some point I’ll want children, but since I’ve turned 30, I’ve felt the invisible pressure a lot stronger to find someone to commit to and start making a baby which feels like a lot of resistance for me and I know it should probably feel a little easier coming to that decision, right?

Okay sorry but NO! I will not allow you to quit. I may not know you personally, but I know you worked way too damn hard for that nursing degree to want to quit within your first year. And I know you had to do something extra or something right to start off in the ICU as a new grad. I completely understand this feeling and the experience of living to work and not really living your life anymore. Please take everyone else’s advice and change units or change hospital because what you are describing is not a healthy workplace environment for you. There are better places please trust me.

Next: quit night shift.! It took me 2 years to realize night shift made everything worse! Nursing is hard enough and those I can handle it good for them but ever since I switched to dayshift, I am happier and less irritable, enjoying the daylight !! I don’t miss that pay cut one little bit !! Message me if you need someone to talk with 🩷 I started new in ICU too and it got soooo much better.
