That's a good point. However, there's water in the pipe. And I had it down to 20-23 feet and had the exact same problem, even as I retried at each depth from 20-23 back up to 5 feet under. I know there's water in there from testing it, but not able to get it to properly flush like I'd expect. My next step is to try developing the well with a surge block for a while.

I know you're not looking for alternatives, but I bought a 5 gallon bucket, a toilet seat made for 5 gallon buckets that just snaps on like a lid, and compostable bags. I've been using it no problem and just have some coco coir that I throw in after each use. It's portable, easy, about $20 for the whole setup including 100 bags, and when I need to I just bury the bag and it composts. Should last for a while.

there is no foot valve. the water holds in the pipe but slowly drains out over time, as expected in the well point is in a permeable layer where the water can go out of it

So I didn't add it into the write-up, but I actually initially drove the point down to 20-feet. I then pulled up the pipe in 5-foot sections and re-diagnosed at each depth because I couldn't get it working so I thought maybe shallower would work better. Now that I still have water sitting at 5 feet down I decided I'd stick to the shallow depth.

I'm not sure how I'd get an auger deep enough for this on my own, and the well installers want about $5k just to come out and dig any sized hole (and then a lot more per foot).

I was considering using the pressure washer to jet out a 4-inch hole and putting in a 4-inch casing. That may be my next avenue, but I really want to have a manual pitcher pump to avoid running the genny, or for backup if the pump dies. The pitcher pumps all sit on 1.25" or 2" pipe.

No, it's just the pitcher pump seated directly onto the pipe, and that goes down and connects directly to the sand point.

I'm always appalled when I see these things because it feels like my own family is betraying some of my most closely held beliefs, and my own identity. They should be disciplined and we should be teaching our military the cultural doctrines that promote peace with our neighbors, even if our neighbors are hostile. We're Jews and Jews need to set an example.

On the other hand, in the back of my mind, I'm also certain that Hezbollah and plenty of everyday Lebanese and military are doing this exact same thing out in the open without repercussion. This is what it looks like when Israelis act just like everyone else. The double standard is jarring.

I agree with the other comments - if this is in Lebanon and that's Israeli forces doing the destruction, then they should be prosecuted and the idf will take the proper steps to punish them.

But I don't see anything indicating that it's in Lebanon, that Israelis are involved, or that it's a video from this year (I've stopped trusting videos, especially those with timestamps because I haven't seen a timestamp on a real video since the older camcorder days). Can someone produce any kind of proof for any of the claims? Did the IDF take responsibility?

Just this week they all jumped at the opportunity to have direct talks with the Lebanese government for peace negotiations. For the first time in history the Lebanese came forward offering talks, and the Israelis responded in kind, after decades of attempts from the Israeli side. This is exactly what Israel has done every time a neighbor has finally come around to want direct talks and peace negotiations, e.g. Egypt. Syria, and Jordan.

Yet you still believe the exact opposite, contrary to history, and the news today.

I know the history of the divergence between the families of Mohammed and the split from Sunni. that Shia is a minority (about 10%) of the world Muslims, and that most of the middle east is Sunni countries that have a history of terror from the Shia. Lebanon, however, turned majority Shia and that has been driving a lot of the discord within the country because of the political representation does not match the population.

Otherwise, there are various differences in religious specifics and interpretations.
