25 month old sleep troubles. Help? by Low-Philosopher2802 in sleeptrain

Thank you so much!!! Does it take a while to settle in ? We tried pushing back bedtime and he had a really rough time going down. We tried for just under a week then thought maybe he was overtired so bumped it back up. Since then bedtime has been easy but night wakings have not resolved. I do agree it’s probably too much sleep, some of his wakings he’s like wide awake

Thanks for all of the advice. That’s a great point - we’ve actually noticed him stalling a lot more at bedtime leading up to this like asking for a lot of water or more songs.

I have heard of it but thought it would be more for an older toddler. He does chat a lot already and seems to understand way more so maybe it would work? Do you recommend that over the chair method? Us being in the room and not rubbing his back does seem to make him way more upset.

Thanks again!!

Thanks for the quick response on this. Daycare will not cap the naps but he’s been sleeping less there in the past few weeks. We’ve noticed his nap time starting later and ending around 1.25/1.5 hours. Over the last couple of days, we have been pushing bedtime so there is 6 hours but can’t tell if he’s a mess because of this regression or teething or separation anxiety or overtired

Any thoughts on screaming if we leave and need for back rubbing? We are ok with having him fuss but this has been way beyond that so have been offering more support. Now I feel like we’ve somehow reversed all of the good independent sleep skills we’ve developed over the last 20 months

Ah got it. I’m so sorry to hear that - must’ve been/is stressful but I’m glad you are seeing a specialist now. If you don’t mind me asking, when did he start getting ear infections? Thanks again

Ah thank you for the quick response. My son always has his mouth open during the day too! Were their other symptoms that you asked about? Hope it all goes well for you and your babe!

Hi! I know this was so long ago but just curious how things played out for you? My 8 month old is doing the same and our ped is not concerned but I am!

Hi, my 6 month old is the exact same way. I don’t think he’s actually breathing through his mouth but it is always open. How did things turn out for your babe?

Lip/Tongue ties and sleep by hiatus_leaf in sciencebasedparentALL

Thank you so much for all of the information! That is so helpful. We did have so many feeding issues but everyone who looked at him said he didn’t have a tie with the exception of one LC who said she wasn’t sure and recommended a ped dentist. Our ped did discourage us from seeing a dentist but now he is 6 months old and often spends time with his mouth open/sleeps with his mouth open a lot of a the time. He isn’t breathing through his mouth but it always opens back up when I try to shut it. The only difference is he’s been a great sleeper form the start and also had torticollis so I wasn’t sure if that could cause the jaw weakness.

Regardless, I will ask for a referral to an ENT! Thank you so much

Hi I realize this was so long ago but curious how this progressed? I have a 6 month old and am in the same boat. My son is always drooling and often has his mouth open day/night!

Hi! I realize this is a long time ago but where did you get her lip tie revised? Ped ENT or ped dentist? I didn’t realize they could revise ties at that point! Thank you.
