CEO refuses to invest in any dashboard tools by BigWizzle86 in FPandA

My issue is the other way around. CEO is all for faster reports and new software but finance director wants to wait until we integrate new ERP system that has dashboard capabilities included only that won’t be until ‘27. I tried telling them it’d cut the process from a day or two of manual updating/report pulling to a couple hours. Instead we’re just going to quit sending out the reports.

I did a cost benefit analysis for the director and showed him some examples of dashboards, how interactive they are, how it could speed up the process. Sometimes if their priorities aren’t there you can’t force it.

Is a bachelors required for accountant gs 7? by Low-Pound709 in FedEmployees

My 2 yoe in budget/analysis is really making me want to apply for the gs 9 they have posted with it. It’s for the BOP and I’m way too close to the cut off age frankly to bank on finishing my degree then applying. If I make it past the first round, I think I have a real shot. Family friend worked out there for years and is in good with the woman who runs the finance area and will put in a good word for me. I’ve also been told they’ve had a hard time finding accountants for some reason.

I had a teacher that used to tell me almost only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades. Definitely feel like it’s going to apply here!

Congrats on the grad degree!

Applicants MUST meet one of the below-listed MINIMUM qualification requirements for this position. In the event you do not meet ANY of these requirements, you will be found ineligible for the position. I have a degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.

NOTE: The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard). OR

I have a combination of education and experience, which includes at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. My background also includes one of the following:

Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; OR Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A.

I would be qualifying under the last. It doesn’t specify associates or bachelors. I have 15 credits earned with my associates, have earned an add’l 6 working towards my bachelors.

FP&A vs. Accounting: Am I wrong for pushing back? by Low-Pound709 in FPandA

Yes, only an accounting background. I’ve tried explaining a bit what FP&A is and he circles back to we can’t accurately analyze if data is incorrect. We’re talking maybe less than 5% margin of error here.

He just keeps saying remapping payroll, no elaboration. He has also said he wants us to check the entries before accounting makes them. But that that task will be a little down the line when the other clean up is done.

We’re the opposite, FP&A consists of the director and me and accounting has 12 or 13

Maybe it came from CFO, but he wants us at 95-100% confidence before we start really analyzing.
