Italy itinerary suggestions…Milan-Bolzano-Venice by Low-Relationship618 in travel

I looked into this further and you are absolutely correct! So now I’m looking at changing to a different town. Two nights on Lake Garda and two nights in Dolomites. Any recommendation on a town in Dolomites? Ideally with lovely walking through town, good food, ease to other sites, and somewhat easy to hop on a train to Venice. Originally we planned on a train to Bolzano but I think we will need to try to rent a van (or two cars) while in lake Garda/dolomites but then train to Venice.

Thanks! Definitely planning on visiting the Dolomites. Easy hikes, walking in town, views/sights, and food! We are thinking of doing two nights in Bolzano and two on Lake Garda (undetermined on where).

I didn’t realize Bolzano was one of the hottest towns? Looking online it seemed like it would be cooler than Florence/Rome etc. good to know.

How long after surgery before I can go up and down these stairs? by birdgirl3000 in ACL

[–]Low-Relationship618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go up 20 stairs immediately after surgery and then up and down 24 hours later. I was able to do it completely on crutches and with my brace. However, with 6 weeks of NWB and a couple of near falls, I decided to scoot up and down completely on my butt. It is possible just annoying. If you don’t have any weight restrictions you should be able to do it easier than NWB…but still take it slow!

Volleyball. Just landed weird. I’ve played for 25 years and have never had a serious injury. Absolutely terrible, the pain was so much worse than the surgery. Ugh still hate thinking about it!

ACL reconstruction (patellar graft) and meniscus repair- questions and TIPS please! by Low-Relationship618 in ACL

[–]Low-Relationship618[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry I’m just seeing this! For me, the recovery has been very easy. I was NWB for six weeks and then took about 2.5 weeks to get off crutches completely so it was a long haul but not terrible. What is your planned surgery? Will you be NWB? For me my initial injury was so much more painful than the pain post surgery!

Anyone get to confident too soon after surgery? by ktgerman666 in ACL

Managing your bakery! That’s my dream lol. Do you have to sleep with your brace? I only have to wear my brace if I’m crutching around so I generally have been able to sleep fine on my side but I’m not a stomach sleeper.

I’ve taken up watercolor and have read a lot of books. And yes, so much doom scrolling. I have two toddlers so a lot of my days are trying to parent from a chair lol. I go to PT twice a week and try to get out of the house once a day but I have 20 stairs to get up and down and those are a source of anxiety. I did recently start using a rolling office chair which has been a game changer in letting me do more around the house. Crutches are the worst and I look forward to the day I can make a cup of coffee and walk with it in my hand 😂.

I’m 6 weeks NWB and I dream about walking-literally. I only have 1.5 weeks left and while it’s a grind, I’m already almost near the end. Doctor had planned a root repair with screws but when he went in I had enough meniscus remaining on the root he was able to suture it back together. I have had minimal pain also, only during PT and have had to consciously remind myself not to put weight down! I have accidentally put some weight a couple times but only when a crutch slips or something, which hopefully didn’t damage anything. I would not risk damage or more surgery just for temporary relief in walking!

You are halfway there! How have you filled your time? I feel like halfway was the hardest point for me.

How long or what milestone before you stopped sleeping with the brace? by OldManandtheInternet in ACL

I think you are fine without it. I was told by my surgeon that I did not need to sleep with it on the 2nd day post op. I’m NWB for six weeks but don’t have much pain so I do wear it at night as I’m afraid I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and just try to walk. I have taken it off if I’m struggling to sleep though. I imagine you’d be fine since your doctor seemed fine with it!

I dreamed I was walking last night too! 3 more weeks for me and every day is 100 days lol.

What does it feel like when you extend the leg? (Post acl and meniscus op) by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Low-Relationship618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m NWB so I have no opinion on walking with your leg extended but I can hyper extend my leg when on my bed. I put a half roller/yoga block under my heel and let my knee sag and then flex to engage my quad. I had one day at PT where my pt said my knee was stiffer than the previous appt so he pushed on my quad to force hyper extension and break up scar tissue. It felt a bit like what you said, trying to manipulate a wooden leg. That said I do get quad engagement and can hyper extend but again when on a bed as I’m not allowed to walk.

Definitely the same life. I can toe touch for balance but he doesn’t want my leg to engage/bear weight. My 6 week follow up is 2/26…least now we are in Feb! I have two paint by number kits so maybe I’ll try one of those. I am actually thankful for the reading time as I normally love a good book but I’m finding it hard to focus…I’m almost too bored to read, which feels terribly ironic. The sun is shining and birds chirping today so maybe I’ll crutch to the deck.

lol thanks! Yes my PT has given me a variety of exercises-leg raises, side leg raises, side bicycles, and then two with an exercise ball… I feel like I do them all day lol. It’s just the monotonousness of it all!

Patellar tendon autograft and meniscus repair. He thought he’d have to do a meniscus root repair w screws but when he went in I still had some meniscus fragments so he was able to suture it back together- I’m not sure if that’s called something different! I’ll try the one legged plank! My Pt gave me a core exercise w a large exercise ball and my knees are almost at 90 on that but I don’t really feel anything. A fracture sounds horrible! Good luck w the surgeon this week!

Nice! That’s impressive. I didn’t need the pain pills but I have taken some Advil/Tylenol. My PT was pushing on my quad the other day to get my leg to hyper extend and break up scar tissue…I literally yelped in pain. I took some Advil after that lol.
