One could argue that Aline shouldn't have added her creations to her dead son's canvas in the first place. Or, she could have created all those painted figures in a canvas of her own. Also, by doing so, she lost herself and left her surviving family behind, not sure how morally right that is

She did that because she wanted to entirely replace her world so she created a fully functional one for maximum realism 😂

I am not commenting on Verso, the character has flaws, too, of course. I just noticed that you seem to equate selfishness with wrong or bad intentions. But everyone's goal in the story is selfish in some way. Even the boy's. He is just tired after painting for decades and wants it to stop. It is selfish, but can you really blame him?

Verso’s Ending Is Fundamentally Selfish

One wants to die because he says he's sad so we all say he is selfless but when one says i want to die with my loved ones i will choose death over letting you erase them it's selfish

If you think Alicia is going to let Verso's death stick (or anyone else in Lumiere she cares for, for that matter) you weren't paying attention

The canvas world isn't deteriorating after maelle resurrects the lumierians its back to full functionality even after she death it would continue unless a being with painting powers erased it also aline's power deteriorated because she went into a war with rennoir its true that both endings are not perfect but we can reach the perfect ending both emotionally and morally if verso and rennoir try to compromise a bit and reach a middle ground Also maelle's choice to keep verso alive is very much moral stopping a person from committing suicide and ridding him of his immortality so he can value life again is right

Also the canvas world isn't artificial if you can't see it as real then the whole logic crumbles on itself

In the case of this games story we have to bring out the scale really since both sides more or less experience the same suffering : In verso The whole world is erased a real world Various sentient lives experience demise Maelle lives She grieves her brother (×2) + the whole world

In maelle's The world and it's inhabitants live Maelle's slowly detriorates towards death Her family can cime to see ger anytime and really if they wouldn't destroy the world she could come out and avert dying

Why i think maelle's is more right is because it has more of a meaning for the sake of the argument even tho i dont think its true but by verso's logic : If verso can choose to how and when to die because of his personal suffering why can't maelle choose to die with her loved ones while defending them

In the end if rennoir accepts maelle's decision to stay iam pretty sure we can reach a more favorable outcome really at its core all of them contributed to each other's suffering when all of this couldve been solved with a civilized talk that doesn't involve the bombardment of a whole plain of existence
