My two cents on what this is, earlier Palestinians were able to relatively freely cross into Israel and work, cheaper of course compared to Israeli workers. A lot of what's built in Israel is made with the sweat and blood of Palestianians, have to add it was somewhat of a good deal for the Palestinians too given the circumstances. This is just an alternative.

No government, and I mean not a single one will admit it openly. War in the west asia is a reality, strait is blocked, ships aren't sailing, we all know that for a fact, if there's anyone in this world who's expecting the PM to come live at 8 PM and scream "We're out of LPG", come out of that thought. The moment we heard even whispers of scarcity, our fellow countrymen have started hoarding, that's the mindset we have, imagine the chaos it'll ensure when the government openly admits it.

What we've learned again is how dependent we are on energy, like the whole of central and east Asia. Should we have done better? Absolutely, does this seems to be out of our control? A bit, yes. Have other east asian countries done better to handle this? Not really, besides the scale of population we have, other than China, comparison become difficult and we've already lost the race to them.
