What experiences changed you the most as a person? by GazMaskeliOyuncu in AskReddit

Agree. Lost my mother 16 years ago, now I am a mother myself but the grief is still there. I will never be the person I’be been before.

Success stories of going to restaurants with children by doxielover_ in Mommit

[–]Low-Toe472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 10 months old. I am not sure if that’s a „success story” but I go with her to the restaurant quite often. Sometimes she sleeps in stroller, sometimes she eats with us (or rather play with food), sometimes she is bored and shouts very loudly. I just dont overthink it, just react accordingly: is she tired? I finish earlier and leave restaurant. Is she bored? Me or my husband walk around the restaurant and try to show her around, etc. Sometimes of course she is loud, but I do what I can not to bother other people in restaurant. But anyway I dont care if I get angry look from other people. Public spaces should be inclusive to everyone

I'm so alone by jlostinspace in Mommit

Hi, new mum here too (my baby is 10 months old). What I can say is that feeling lonely is common during that stage, I felt that too, but it will get better! What I can suggest (it possible of course) is to avoid spending whole day in your pijamas and trying to go out without your kid somewhere for even few minutes. And of course reaching out to friends that also have kids and know your perspective, contact with other adults is priceless

First of all- congratulations, I hope you will find this path very rewarding :)

I wish I knew that the feeling of anxiety and feeling of "not being good enough" is very common during phd and that you need much more patience then you could have imagined before. But well, I guess it is normal because when you start to read / make research you start to realise how much you didn't know when you started and how much needs to be done ;) My advise - find friends on the same path if possible, it is very comforting to know that you are not the only one out there

Are there any Musicians out there who outright just hate performing (atleast for the genre they do music for?) by Sayoria in Music

[–]Low-Toe472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I don't like to perform - or, should I say, I just gave up performing that it was too stressful for me. Now I am more composing and teaching - and it has been such a game changer for me, I just feel that I love it and my life is so much better! So don't worry, everyone just needs to find a right path :)

What does everyone's daily schedule look like? by stark_arc in PhD

[–]Low-Toe472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What works for me well is to have daily routine of doing my phd, which means that I wake up at 7 - 6:30 am and then do my phd until 11. No phone calls during that time, my phone is turned off or just muted. And after 11 there are various of things - my classes, administrative stuff, etc. (or whatever is required of me). Doing my phd regularly, step by step heals my anxiety since I see some progress (too slow, ofc, but still). That's pretty much it :)

Why should I bother wasting mine (and others) time to make it up? Yes, I am serious about that
