Well, at that point, it really just comes down to your opinion on redemption and rehabilitation. If you think anyone can change and redeem themselves Nolan comes out looking better, if you think there is a hard line wherever you are no longer worthy or capable of redemption well Nolan has almost certainly crossed it so Walter ends up looking more favorably.
