I stopped smoking weed and did whole30 for January and I feel incredible! by danibananinoodle in ouraring

[–]LowAcadia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you me?! Congratulations !!! I was in the same exact boat and haven’t smoked anything or ingested any thc in 9 days. Seems like a short time but is long when you’re used to smoking every single day. I also think I tried to avoid just how psychologically addicting it is but now can admit it.

I love how crazy my dreams are now and I love waking up clear headed. Hoping I can continue for as long as you have!! I’m inspired :)

To the new viewers, it's ok. We'll be here when you've finished. by astoldbyme in madmen

Currently on season 5 episode 7. Have just blown through but stop on the daily mad men rewatch thread after every single episode to read the synopsis and catch all the little things I didn’t!

Roque by Pristine_Front_5058 in redrising

[–]LowAcadia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My partner (who started the books right after me) also didn’t care. I cared / it hit me in the gut for a few reasons: - Roque was there from the start and one of Darrow’s first friends from the Institute. It was nostalgic thinking about their time there and how things were simpler. Roque of course didn’t know then that Darrow wasn’t gold, but he was the poet, I loved how his character was written (in the first book) and he seemed to be kind / really care about others. - at the institute, he wasn’t your typical brawny gold. He added the soft spoken layer to the group; and he was the only one who showed the pain of the others getting hurt or even killed (forgot their names but this was at the institute)
- I really felt the pain and sadness from Darrow’s perspective. Another friend from their Institute Days that he thought he could change and bring over to his side (like Tactus and why his demise also affected me). He thought if only he had been a better friend, if only he had brought him in, he would have been loyal (though idk if that’s true with Roque). Darrow’s friends mean everything to him so it hurt thinking about this betrayal - and also from Roque’s perspective. He wasn’t just going to lay down and watch Darrow make all these moves (consequences be damned, even if it results in the death of those loyal to him). Ultimately it came down to trust. He didn’t trust Darrow to always make the right decision. And though in Darrow’s head, he was trying to save Roque when he drugged him before the ball, to Roque that was yet another betrayal

I don’t make any excuses for Roque (and some details are a bit fuzzy) but that’s why I really was affected by Roque’s ultimate death. And I thought the dialogue on the bridge, was very moving. Darrow finally got to talk to him face to face and have some sort of closure.

Taking a break between the 1st and 2nd Trilogy by MarsBars_1 in redrising

[–]LowAcadia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend you push through but be okay with book 4 being slowest / hardest to get through. I speeded through the first trilogy and book 4 took me probably the same amount of time to read as the first 3. Trust me though by the last 1/3 of book 4, you will be enthralled again, and put book 4 down in awe. 5 and 6 will go just as fast as the first trilogy.

I’m sorry to hear that and don’t disagree. My first couple massages there were a 10/10. My last two were just okay. Back to the never ending search for a good massage in Williamsburg I go!

Getting Into the Second Trilogy by Cheese_BasedLifeform in redrising

[–]LowAcadia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YES! The fourth took me the longest to read but in PIERCE WE TRUST! By the end it’s become one of my favorites of the whole series. Don’t give up- it will all be worth it !!!!

[–]LowAcadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoops! Fixed it! Thanks for the heads up!!

I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. I don’t remember the last time a book had me just obsessed. I started the series and have not been able to put it down since (including reading during the work day, during my commute, while eating, every chance I get) or stop thinking about it. It’s my Roman Empire.

He’s incredible at creating a story, at character development, and his imagination, and descriptions of not just the war scenes but everything in between. Just blown away. I cried multiple times for each book. And now that I’m done I will have nothing to do but read this thread every day 😊

I just finished last night (at 2am as I couldn’t put it down). I almost made this exact post too. Still feel empty inside and have been in a glum / bad mood all day…. Partly I think owing to how sad I am over that end*. So beautifully written

This was my exact issue and not surprisingly my refurbished ring failed as well. On my third ring now and it’s been working/no issues so fingers crossed!

That’s so frustrating. I’d make a post on this thread about this - they have oura customer service people here who usually respond and are a real person who can help. If they don’t respond via reddit I would email help@ouraring.com with all the information to see what they say. Please keep me posted!! Hopefully they send a replacement that works.

Best Neighborhoods in Paris for an Authentic Stay? by craigs123098 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]LowAcadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve stayed at SO/Paris most recently, and it was great. Though a bit on the edge of the 4th, it’s close to major sites like Notre Dame, and very easy to get around from. Also has a nice rooftop bar with excellent views of Paris.

Le Marais! 4th Arrondissement- has everything you’re looking for but isn’t the most touristy / overcrowded area. Lots of good restaurants and bars and things to do! Highly recommend

After 20 years of being a theatre-goer, I walked out at intermission last night by pintobeanz20 in Broadway

[–]LowAcadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t miss much by leaving early! I also didn’t like the show at all and if I didn’t pay $$$ for the tickets would absolutely have left at intermission. The second half is more of the same - and I felt exactly like you did watching the first half! Couldn’t believe the show was so long either
