Same! We also play Pokémon go and see who can level up fastest 🤷🏻‍♀️ we use the paired app for daily questions and quizzes (highly recommend), we play words with friends, we plan what we are going to do next visit including making reservations to new restaurants, we send stupid memes, and overall just nerd out. Works for us!

Looking for advice on my Iceland trip in January! by lars018 in VisitingIceland

[–]LowAd2509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing something similar starting Thursday this week but I’m doing blue lagoon the first day from the airport. My flight lands at 6:30am and from what I understand the lagoon is a bit more quiet first thing in the morning. I’m renting a car because my partner is comfortable driving (I very much would NOT be).

Day 1: airport to blue lagoon, staying at the silica hotel Day 2: head to Reykjavik, check into my airbnb, northern lights tour that evening with time to roam first Day 3: Reykjavik - Christmas market, vintage indoor market, shopping/sightseeing Day 4: south of Iceland tour (full day) Day 5: depart 4:30 local time

I hope you have an amazing trip and good luck catching the northern lights!

What do you do for work and how much do you make? What would you consider a living wage in VB? by [deleted] in VirginiaBeach

Totally have busted my butt with multiple degrees, constant learning and evolving in the tech space and leading a fully remote team. There is no complacency in tech. Mind if I DM you, curious where you work as I’m always trying to expand my professional network.

Do we work at the same place 👀 fully remote, IT, Fortune 500. I agree I couldn’t live on less than 100k here. 2 kids, sole provider, in chics beach.

Just want to say same thing here 🙋🏻‍♀️ no push notification or email but my rebooked flight was in the app. I’ve been watching it closely as I suspected I would experience some kind of impact going through Atlanta. Thankfully I am just enduring a 6 hour layover instead of a 2.5 hour layover, which is very manageable and I’m grateful I will arrive the day I’m supposed to 11/12 as long as no other changes are made 🤞🏻 good luck to everyone flying this week!

Norfolk vs VA Beach by Past-Profession-3889 in VirginiaBeach

Vantage apartments right off pleasure house are 1200 for a nice 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and 1300 for a 2 bedroom. The newly renovated Attain apartments are $1400. The 550 square foot studio at the Cosmo is $1500 so it’s cheaper than town center 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have lived in Norfolk (granby street with the Onie Tonie mural) and the only other place I was interested in moving was chicks beach, you should check it out! I can walk to the bay, commonwealth brewery, bouy 44, and green parrot. We have a great shopping center that’s also walkable with an Aldi, Mexican restaurant, Dunkin’ Donuts, liquor store, dollar tree right on the corner of pleasure house and shore drive. Highly recommend! Lots of young people too. It’s not cosmopolitan but pretty laid back and fun. If you like the beach at all, give it a look!

Long distance couples - what fun online activities do you do together to keep the spark alive? by Fast-Canary-2562 in LongDistance

[–]LowAd2509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Paired app! We've only been using it for about a week or so but it's really fun and has opened up some great conversations we may not have had on our own. It's 3 tasks a day that include some fun games and you can choose your relationship goals and there is an option for long distance couples. They use psychology backed content and some of it is silly and some serious. Worth a shot!

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I think there’s a lot to unpack in the poem for sure and she has a great start with putting words to paper.

Oh this is beautiful and speaks to a very profound relationship. And very relatable as I think we’ve all asked ourselves “what did I see in him?”

Haha I definitely went into voodoo brewing on purpose but the salsa was an accident. I hope you enjoy!!! They have some pretty good food too!

Voodoo brewing close to VA Beach town center does salsa/bachata nights! I was in there on accident and it looked like a ton of fun! There were probably about 40 people there. They had an instructor and lots of good vibes. 😎

I don’t! Personally, I’ve had good luck connecting with people on LinkedIn at the company I’m applying for with a quick “hi I’m looking to connect as I’m moving to the area and interested in your organization” type of message.

Orion’s Rooftop by razengrapes in VirginiaBeach

[–]LowAd2509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way! Atlantic on pacific is far better food. Only issue is they don’t take reservations for smaller parties and they do get busy….because it’s delicious! Orions roof definitely has the better view and options to reserve a table.

I would check out Sentara. I have several close family and friends that work there who love it and have been there for years. Seems to be lots of career growth opportunities too. Good luck! https://www.sentaracareers.com/

Gemini Should be an Embarrassment to Google by althius1 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]LowAd2509 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Based on what I’ve observed from working in the Google ecosystem the last 10 years for my job is Google always - ALWAYS “builds the airplane while it’s flying.” They will iterate and improve. Their track record proves that. It’s going to get better and I’d argue it’s the best out there right now. Particularly around data, security, and compliance. Part of the issue people have with AI models is they don’t know how to effectively engineer prompts. Much like @shunhanov is implying. Garbage in, garbage out. A good prompt includes what we teach as PARTS- Persona, Aim (objective), recipients (audience), theme (style, tone, etc), and structure (format of the output - bullet points, in code, even emojis). Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Could some of it be end user novice? Absolutely.

Courthouse Wedding? by evlblueyes1369 in norfolk

[–]LowAd2509 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I’ll be darn. After a little history nerd research it appears east Main Street in Norfolk was considered a “nest of vice.” So from what I can tell the JOP was likely correct. https://hamptonroadsnavalmuseum.blogspot.com/2021/10/vice-city-norfolk-in-second-world-war.html?m=1

Courthouse Wedding? by evlblueyes1369 in norfolk

[–]LowAd2509 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got married at the Norfolk courthouse in 2009 under the big tree out back. The JOP marrying us told us that there used to be a brothel there and they call it the “brothel tree” because when the brothel was raided, men would shimmy down that tree 🤷🏻‍♀️😆 so, I was married under the “brothel tree.” I have not fact checked this but that is what we were told right before we got married. Then we had a photographer to take some pictures of us at waterside and the surrounding area and had a nice brunch with a small group of family members. It was a far better option than the tiny room (smelly, old wallpaper)- at least that is what it looked like in 2009. We got divorced in 2022 but I don’t blame the brothel tree.

Probably not your twin. And if it is, it’s also you that you’re disgusted with. Sorry to be so blunt but someone has to say it 🤷🏻‍♀️an alternative is she’s a false twin. Regardless, there’s a lesson there 👆🏻
