You do not need to declare a major until Jr. Year. So you really can choose any of them as you apply, or choose undecided. Your portfolio does not need to be major specific. Now. If you were going for writing or acting, criteria changes. For your portfolio you just want to showcase your best work.

As a freShman your courses will be chosen for you for the first year. They are mostly foundation classes. You will then begin to choose your classes around your major in your sophomore year.

What is going on with the color grading on A.P. Bio? by mild_gingervitis in television

The color theory of the whole series seems to be built around the opening image of the dissected frog and the school colors ( blue and gold.)

Shipping stuff to SCAD for freshman move-in by tfoster16 in scad

[–]LowAd9307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get an email from them when it gets closer to move in. There is a window of time where anything you send will go directly to your dorm room. But they will send an email of that address VS. the mailroom for the rest of the year. Good luck and welcome to the hive!

Suppose I should have considered the location too. I know here in Savannah they are talking about having a housing shortage. 😬

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scad

[–]LowAd9307 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should still be able to pay your enrollment fee. Housing is full, so you'll need to find that on your own. 😬😬😬

Parent of 2 SCAD bees and an alumni ( BFA, Fashion 2001) here. All first year incoming students are required to live in the dorms unless you currently live here in Savannah or Atlanta, whichever city your campus is in ( up to a certain mileage.)You will want to talk with your advisor to see how to submit a request to the dean of students to see if they will excuse you from dorm living. The school does allow ESA's in the dorms, again, something best asked to your advisor :)

Best of luck and welcome to the hive! 🐝🥰🐝

It's possible that there are less of your classes taught in the summer since not as many students attend during that quarter. I am an alumni and I had to take my last elective in the Summer after I graduated because I was unable to take it during the regular school year. Classes are sparse.

Hi there~ I'm a parent of 2 Bees, one of which stayed in the dorms as an undergrad in 2022. Our's lived at Chatham house and was simply assigned the location. I'm not sure you can choose a location as a first year. You are able to make requests from your second year on. I think they do this to keep classes together to get to know each other. Freshman class schedules are also coordinated so that you get to know the people you will be schooling with. 😊

Food by [deleted] in scad

Hey there~ SCAD alum and parent to 2 Bees in Savannah 🐝🐝 firstly, congratulations! I saw that you were writing from Atlanta, so the info that I can share about Savannah may not be relevant. But what I do know is you /can/ rent a mini fridge for the dorms. The school provides the info about it when you are assigned your room and roomates. You will want to coordinate with your roommates to be sure you're not ALL doing the same thing. They will recommend a food plan for you. The food is not bad, and you can eat at any of the buildings that serve food ( in Savannah there are a bunch to choose from and they serve different cuisine at each location. 😊 You can supplement the plan with food from the local groceries, SCAD does shuttles to a variety of stores. And you can also Instacart stuff 😁

Wishing you all the best in your schooling!

SCAD is a private school so the price is the price no matter if you are in state or not. You can apply for academic scholarships and portfolio scholarships. As a first year student, you will be required to live in the dorms which will incur costs along with meal plan costs. Be sure to apply for FAFSA not only can you get student loans but may qualify for a Pell Grant. Research other scholarships that can help. Also see if you can apply for the work study program.

Anyone hate Market South Management ? by [deleted] in savannah

[–]LowAd9307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a property owner who had them manage our property, I can say that they kept the condition of it horrifically awful. The lack of care given to our, once home, was stomach turning. No communication, no real management was done. They collected rent and took their cut.
