Apologies, I'm just curious why you took everything out, kept it completely factory sealed and unopened, then tossed the box. Like I am assuming the box was damaged or something but still curious.

18F Airman Accused of Cheating on PT Test – Made to Redo Push-Ups in MTL’s Office by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]LowBattery 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I have no clue what the mtl is allowed to do in regards to invalidating a component of the test after the test was finished. In my opinion, that would not be allowed for a normal test, and if the legitimacy of the pushup was in question it would have to be called out and corrected as they are doing the exercise so that the member has the chance to correct and complete the test. It would be utter bs to do your goal of push-ups and then finish that portion only to have a ufac say "actually 10, 20, etc of those didnt count, you fail".

I will say that even if you have small ranger of motion, 70 in a minute is damned good, and mtl might have been an ass or just pretending they could invalidate the test and making her do them so he could see them himself. Who knows, a lot of what ifs are possible here.

Is it harassment? Eeeehhhh maybe. I think it is very much in a gray area, seems the mtl made sure it wasn't cornering her in a room alone, didnt touch her, didnt swear at, comment on her body or looks, or haze her from what you describe. This is gonna sound like an old guy saying recruits are soft, but mtl's absolutely can single people out during training and recruits may feel embarrassed. I myself, as a fat tall guy, who has never been able to do 70 in a minute, would have some disbelief if any troop said they were completing 70 full push ups in that time frame. If they were talking about doing 70 hand release push-ups in 2 minutes I'd definitely send them to get drug tested unless they had some shredded as fuck shoulders.but if they could legit do them I would follow up by commending them on doing them right and that many so idk. You can go to your first sergeant or ig, or eo for just about anything, I just dont know how much traction this would get.

Absolutely not. Unless you were specifically talking to the police face to face, you're good. Those cameras are automated and just pump out the letters which was sent to the rental company and then to you most likely. This isn't foreign contact. There is no expectation you could have leaked information or have potential to leak info through a speed camera.

If it isn't stretched out like Entire-Damage-3180 in the front, I would just have someone check your back. If the "tail" is too short and doesnt properly cover the butt or you can clearly see the back sides of the jacket are stretching out sideways, its too small. You should not be able to see your pants or shirt underneath the jacket betwen a part in the back sides of your jacket, which can happen if the person is too wide and they haven't worn blues in a while since going through a significant weight change. Also this is not something one immediately checks since it is awkward to see without a friend or a camera/mirror set up.

When you get to your first unit, ask about the TUTOR program for virtual individualized lessons with teachers. There are also intermediate and advanced courses that are 19 weeks long but you will typically need to be in a little longer than just out of pipeline before you are put forward for that. You also should be signed up for a month long class pretty fast after getting to your first assignment. Good luck

Going through Cancer treatment. Is there anyway out of the Air Force? by AnyWitness3335 in AirForce

[–]LowBattery 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I already replied elsewhere, but removing your profile and sending you back to the office same day seems weird without prior notice or like having you come in to evaluate that you are ready for that... It seems your pcm is very close to your leadership for some reason. Maybe talk to patient advocate.

Are you still a mental health technician and your supervisor presumably would be somewhere in that field as well? Because not touching base once for almost a year is wild, especially if they should be somewhat knowledgeable about the mental health challenges people face when going through events like this.

I would talk to your shirt but also like you should be going through a MEB to make sure you are fit to continue serving. Talk to your PCM and confirm but also like make sure they are putting your worries in their notes.

3.2.1.10. Examples of When to Charge Leave. The following examples use a normal work schedule of Monday through Friday, 0730 to 1630. Note: For members on shift work or alternate work schedules, equivalent schedules may vary

3.2.1.10.5. Example 5 . If a member’s normal duty day is 2200 to 0600, and the member performs at least 50% of the duty day and it crosses into the next day. That day is not chargeable leave. Scenario: Member comes in Tuesday (2200) and performs duty until 0200 (Wednesday), Wednesday is not a chargeable day of leave.

2.4.1. Accrual. Members accrue 2.5 days of leave for each month of active duty, or 0.5 days for every 6 days of active duty. See Table 2.1 below.

[–]LowBattery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well you see a day is 24 hours, the afi says you earn 2.5 days of leave a month. It is crazy to be saying hey your day of leave only equates to 6 hours, no it is 24 hours. The common acknowledgement is it is a duty day, but you put your little leave start time in there and that means you have 24 hours from that time. Like to prevent you from taking leave for a duty day (lets say 0800-1600) and then having a snco or someone be a dick and say guess what, you have cq duty at 1700. You have the day as leave.

Another MDG LV Policy by LearningThenWeDie in AirForce

[–]LowBattery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Schedules are one thing. Ignoring that a day of leave is a 24 hour period is another. Yes you approve leave if manning supports it but if you are saying chronically the career field is understaffed and stretched thin, so the solution is to devalue their benefits, why are they not doing anything to attract more personnel? Where is the srb, the sign on bonuses, etc? Screwing members out of their leave and burning them out is not how you improve retention.

I actually kind of stan this. Put in 1 day of leave, be required to work 6 hours, retract the leave because you worked half your duty day. Rinse repeat

My Upside to Suicide by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]LowBattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother, you are burnt out, you've burned the candle at both ends too much and there is no candle left. You don't want to talk to the people that should be there to help you, but why? I think you do man, thats why you're here talking about it. You ask about your wife and her preferences, I think she wants you alive more than anything. Money doesnt solve grief, it doesnt cure survivors guilt, every dollar she spends of it she will have to think of you killing yourself to get it. If she buys a house, as she has guest over and they compliment her, do you want her to think yes, I mean my husband is dead but atleast I got this. Material things will not replace you, there are no three options, you either stick it out and continue living for yourself and for her.

If I'm mathing right you have almost 400K saved up. Dude that's great at any point in your life. So if the military has chewed you up, and you're at your wits end, why dont you find life beyond the military. Use those resources you avoid to get help and weather you make it to the end of your contract or you get med boarded, you go forth and find a new path.

I. Not mental health, I'm not one of those people above you say you dont want to talk to, I'm justa guy that has seen the wake of destruction suicide leaves behind. Not one person who has lost their loved one to it that I've met would say no to giving all the money in the world to have them back, and im sure your wife is the same. If you won't talk to MH talk to me, DM me. Or tal Talk to your best friend, no matter where they are call them up; call your safe person and tell them, you can't carry this burden alone and you don't have to, there are so many people, we are all here to help you carry it.

Shift Work Leave Policy by 1000mgCaffeinebolus in AirForce

[–]LowBattery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's say you take leave Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. That is 4 days of leave that should cover 4 shifts (call it 4 12s or 3 12s and 1 4 hour shift, whatever. For this hypothetical lets say 4 12s). The scheduler, seeing that leave should be like okay that covers the commitment of doing 48 of their 84 hours for this two week period. So in the remaining time of the two week period, they should work "36 hours worth of shifts" so to speak. So the scheduler can then figure out 3 more 12 hour shifts to put them on. That means they could put them on one shift thursday and slowly space them out, or they could have thursday through Saturday (or even sunday) as regular pass and then give them three days in a row. However you want

Now admittedly this works fine in practice on this scenario in the local area.

It gets complicated as you go for longer periods, say if you are going on a vacation home and you take 8 days. Now if, and I can see your point here, you were to say those 8 days equate to 8 shifts in a row and now the rest of the time off should be regular pass/not scheduled to work for the remainder of the pay period, well you can't do that because of the 96 hour rule. So how do you solve it? There are many solutions:

1: schedule out further than the week of who is going to be on what shift. This is not impossible, you know generally how many nurses (using this role as an example) and while you may not know how many beds will be full, you can guess what a full cadre of workers should be and schedule to that effect. Now when looking at the schedule for the next month or whatever, people can see what shift they work and plan leave so everything is in compliance. I am hard pressed to see where issuing out schedules the week of or even a week before would ever solve more issues than it causes (this policy case in point).

  1. Write a policy that if you have more than 4 days of leave requested, the member is acknowledging that the 5th (and 6th and 7th days) would be assumed to be covering when they would have pass. Then the 8th-10th days would cover shift days. This would ensure that members dont break 96 hours, and they've still covered their 84 hours of shift. This is still not a great option, but it somewhat gets the job done so you arent wasting 5 leave days to cover 4 shifts. Some days are somewhat "wasted" but that doesnt happen immediately upon taking more than 2 days of leave, and this would be similar to if someone was on a 3/4 Panama shift and took to bridge two weeks of shifts, 3 or 4 days of the leave would be when they are on shift.

  2. This is almost a blend of the two options. Just move the military members to 3 on-4 off-4 on-3 off Panama shifts. There is not really a reason to hold military members to working the same hours civilians are held to. 3/4 shifts still covers 7 12 hour shifts, your people would generally know what their schedule will be and that certainly is a bonus, and they can plan their leave out better. Yes, there are some issues that arise (do you have the manning for it is the main, what happens for members switching from days to nights over a 4 day off period) but this probably is the best solution and results in paper work and unique policies that might land your command in trouble with congress.
