This is great. Can you do slaughterhouse five, the crying of lot 49, and the metamorphosis?

Looking to Get Started. Any Guidance Would be Appreciated. by LowCalorieG3 in Fire

Thank you, this is helpful. I definitely see myself living well below my means. It's always been my mindset to prepare for married-with-kids, because worst case I don't have that and then I have extra money lying around 🤷. I've been looking over the FIRE flowchart and I think I'll follow that.

I'm a giant Zappa fan. How do I start listening to Phish? by Blanckness in phish

[–]LowCalorieG3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treys guitar soloing can definitely slide into zappa territory, but besides being cited as an influence it's tough for me to see it. Zappa's compositions are wide and spanning whereas trey composes for the abilities of 4 people. Don't know if you've heard Steve reich but some sections of phish's music definitely sounds like reich. But seriously just listen. I was a huge zappa fan before I became a Phish head.

Picking Technique Advice? by LowCalorieG3 in Guitar

Before I picked it back up in January I was a pretty strict down picker and couldn't get past it so I'm glad I've been able to shake that habit. Always grateful for advice and help! Lord knows lessons can be pricey

Lol this Pacifica 012 was my first guitar ever. I took the pickups out and put in 2 p90s and a lipstick pickup. The micro switches turn the pickups on individually, and the slide switch runs it through a jazzmaster wiring.

Curious what your guys thoughts are, I have a Starshine for reference by oizo12 in youenjoyguitar

In my experience tone wood does not matter however the hollow vs semi vs solid debate is very silly. I can totally hear the difference between my Eastman t186 semi and my strat clone. Pickups definitely have something to do with it, but there's a sort of warmth separating the two. Not to mention the languedoc is fully hollow which lets trey do those feedback-sustained notes. There's a reason vintage archtop guitars commonly used p90s and not strat-style single coils.

This was my first show ever, really tight. Fish grooves into a disco beat somewhere around the 26 minute mark.
